It has been a busy week across the retro gaming space, from new hardware reveals to significant software milestones. We saw fresh ways to play classic titles on modern screens and celebrated the anniversary of a 16-bit machine. Here is a look at what happened over the last few days.
Studio WING's 1988 horror adventure Onryou Senki is out on Switch. The PC-8801 occult detective game arrived on EGGCONSOLE today. It brings paranormal investigations to modern hardware.
The Apple IIGS turns 40, and it's still my favorite computer. We took a look back at the 16-bit powerhouse that brought incredible sound, vibrant colors, and a glimpse of the future to the Apple II line.
The spruceOS v4.4.0 update hits Anbernic handhelds and adds a new DS emulator. The custom firmware project expanded its hardware support to the Anbernic H700 lineup. It also introduced a ground-up Nintendo DS emulator.
The covers for Pokémon's 30th anniversary art books are here. Overlap revealed the cover designs for its massive 1,500-page Pokémon Visual Art Book collection, which releases this December. I am really hoping it gets translated to English.
