This past week in retro gaming brought major updates to open-source preservation tools alongside new hardware and software built for handhelds. From classic adventure game compatibility and steep Humble Bundle discounts to dual-screen Android devices and PC gaming wrappers, there's plenty to catch up on. Here's a look back at the stories we covered over the last seven days.

ScummVM 2026.4.0 adds support for Star Wars: Rebel Assault and Harvester. The Q4 2026 update for the open-source engine recreation project brings compatibility for dozens of new adventure games. Both Star Wars: Rebel Assault and Harvester are now playable through the latest build.

Anbernic's new RG DDS is a dual-screen handheld built for 3DS. This clamshell Android handheld runs on a Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 processor and pairs it with two displays. Those screens are designed for exact 3x integer scaling of Nintendo 3DS games, which solves a persistent display headache for dual-screen emulation.

DroidDeck 0.3.2 brings native Steam sleep to Android handhelds. The open-source DroidDeck project added native Steam sleep alongside background downloads for running Steam Big Picture on Android. It also rolls out experimental Adreno 6xx support.

DroidDeck 0.4.0 adds foldable screen support and GOG integration. Following right behind the previous patch, the Android PC gaming wrapper updated again with dynamic resolution support for foldable screens and a built-in touch gamepad. The 0.4.0 release also brings direct integration for Epic and GOG libraries.

Great deals on great collections. A slower news day gave us a good excuse to browse through some steep discounts on classic game collections over at Humble Bundle. It's an easy way to fill out a retro library without spending much.

We'll be back next week with more retro gaming news, hardware announcements, and project updates.
