November 7th week in review
A look back at this week's retro gaming news, from EA's restored 1990s PC classics to fresh updates for Android Xbox emulation and Linux handhelds.
The first week of November brought a healthy mix of archival PC restorations, custom handheld firmware updates, and homebrew arcade conversions. Whether you prefer tinkering with Linux builds on a portable device or revisiting 1990s computer classics, there was plenty to keep up with over the past seven days. Here is a look back at what we covered this week.
EA brings 25 classic PC games to Steam with restored Road Rash and Wing Commander. After discovering 20,000 old archival tapes at its Redwood Shores campus, EA teamed up with community modders to restore seven 1990s classics alongside 18 vintage PC ports. It's a rare case of a major publisher actually cleaning out its closet and finding something everyone wanted to play.

HakuX 1.2.0 brings playable Halo and Forza to Android handhelds. The original Xbox emulator for Android just rolled out version 1.2.0, delivering smooth 30 FPS performance and various game fixes for portable hardware. The update also adds System Link multiplayer support for local matches.

ROCKNIX updates its handheld Linux OS with version 20261101. Serving as an open-source successor to JELOS, ROCKNIX released its November 1 build earlier this week. The new version updates system packages and refines device tree support across dozens of ARM and Snapdragon handhelds.
Bubble Bobble gets a free homebrew port for Mega Drive and Neo Geo. Homebrew developer PepAlacant put out a free arcade conversion of Taito's 1986 platformer Bubble Bobble. The release brings the two-player arcade game to both the Sega Mega Drive and the SNK Neo Geo.
We'll be back next week with more retro gaming releases, emulation updates, and hardware news.
