The physical PS5 edition of Blood: Refreshed Supply is out now
Clear River Games just shipped the $30 physical PlayStation 5 version of Nightdive's definitive retro shooter remaster.
Clear River Games has released the physical PlayStation 5 edition of Blood: Refreshed Supply. The boxed version of Nightdive Studios' definitive retro shooter remaster is available starting today for $29.99.
The publisher confirmed the launch on social media, noting that Caleb has risen from the grave once again to hunt down Tchernobog and his lieutenants. This physical rollout follows the game's initial digital launch on December 4, 2025, which brought the shooter to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
Built from the original 1997 source code
The path to this release took a few tries. Monolith Productions originally built Blood on the Build engine in May 1997. The game starred Caleb, an undead 19th-century gunslinger resurrected to enact brutal vengeance against a dark deity. It gained a massive cult following for its visceral combat, gothic horror tone, and extreme difficulty. When Nightdive Studios first remastered the game in 2019 as Blood: Fresh Supply, they had to reverse-engineer the entire thing because the original source code was lost. That version was functional but had its quirks.
Years later, the original code was finally recovered. Nightdive rebuilt the game from scratch using their proprietary KEX Engine to create Refreshed Supply. This version supports 4K rendering, includes reworked multiplayer netcode, and restores cut levels through an in-game vault. It also bundles massive community campaigns like Marrow and Death Wish, which were previously covered when the digital version launched.
I still prefer the voodoo doll
Blood remains one of the best games from the 1990s build engine era, sitting right alongside Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior. The arsenal is absurd, and the voodoo doll is one of the best weapons ever put in a first-person shooter. You just stab a little effigy and watch cultists fall over across the room. The flare gun is equally satisfying, especially when you manage to light up a whole group of zombies at once.
Bundling the community campaigns
The inclusion of the community expansions is a major selling point for this release. Death Wish alone is essentially a full sequel, offering dozens of new maps that push the aging Build engine to its absolute limits. Having these mods officially integrated and playable on a PlayStation 5 without needing to mess with file directories or fan patches is a massive convenience. Nightdive has made a habit of elevating community content in their recent remasters, and Blood benefits heavily from that approach.
Clear River Games handles the European and global physical distribution under Embracer Group's Freemode label. They have carved out a solid niche publishing physical editions of retro revivals like Cotton Reboot! and Dementium: The Ward.
