A look back at this week's retro gaming news, from Karate Champ's return to Apple's cancelled Copland OS.
It was a busy week for retro releases and historical deep dives. We saw everything from 8-bit arcade ports to cancelled operating systems running in web browsers. Here's a look at what we covered over the last few days.
Studio WING's 1988 horror adventure Onryou Senki is out on Switch. The PC-8801 occult detective game arrived on EGGCONSOLE today. It brings paranormal investigations to modern hardware.
How SNK built Samurai Shodown out of rogue code and last-minute panic. A newly translated retrospective interview with Yasushi Adachi and Tomoaki Fukui reveals the chaotic development behind SNK's weapon fighter.
You can now boot Apple's cancelled Copland OS in your browser. Thirty years after Apple scrapped its ambitious System 7 successor, a modified DingusPPC emulator brings Copland build D11E4 to WebAssembly.
Falcom plans to finish the Kai no Kiseki arc with its next game. Nihon Falcom President Toshihiro Kondo shared updates on the Trails series finale and Crossbell remakes. He also explained why the next Ys game might miss the 40th anniversary.
