PS5 and Xbox are getting Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar on May 28
The 2008 DS farming sim remake is making the jump to PlayStation and Xbox consoles this spring, complete with its unique market stall mechanics.
Marvelous has announced that Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on May 28, 2026. This release brings the modern remake of the 2008 Nintendo DS title to Sony and Microsoft consoles nine months after its initial August 2025 debut on PC, Nintendo Switch, and the Switch 2, according to the official website.
Two cozy games got release dates today. The other is Moonlight Peaks, a vampire farming simulator that you can read about in our coverage here. I am fully prepared to lose another hundred hours of my life to digital crop rotation.

Running a stall in Zephyr Town
If you missed the Switch release last year, Grand Bazaar is the 19th entry in the long-running agricultural franchise. It originally launched as Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar in Japan in 2008 and North America in 2010. The name change happened because Natsume kept the Harvest Moon trademark when Western publishing rights shifted to XSEED in 2014. The actual development team at Marvelous just started calling their games Story of Seasons overseas.
Farming simulators have exploded in popularity since 2008. Back then, Marvelous had a near monopoly on the genre. Today, Grand Bazaar has to compete with dozens of indie titles on the PlayStation and Xbox storefronts. The bazaar mechanic helps it stand out from the standard plant-and-water routine.
The hook for this specific entry is right in the title. You do not just grow turnips and toss them into a shipping bin. You have to actively run a market stall at the weekly bazaar in Zephyr Town. You must manage inventory, set prices, and deal directly with customers to rebuild the local economy. Instead of a passive income stream, the bazaar forces you to interact with the townspeople. You have to ring a bell to attract shoppers and physically hand them the items they want to buy.
Full voice acting and a glider
This is a ground-up remake of the DS original. The original 2008 release relied heavily on the Nintendo DS dual screens and sprite-based graphics. Moving to modern hardware required a complete visual overhaul into full 3D environments.
Marvelous also added full voice acting for story events. That is a first for the entire franchise. Older entries relied entirely on text boxes and the occasional character portrait change to convey emotion. Hearing the townsfolk actually speak during romance events and festivals brings the presentation closer to modern RPG standards.
The developers implemented a jumping mechanic and a glider to navigate the verticality of Zephyr Town. You can catch wind currents to drift across the map. You also use windmills to process your raw materials into more expensive goods for the weekend market. The PC and Switch versions received positive reviews last summer for modernizing the 2008 mechanics without losing the core gameplay loop.
$50 for the standard edition
The base game will cost $49.99 digitally and physically. If you want extra digital items, XSEED is offering a $59.99 Digital Deluxe edition that includes a Trunk of Transformation cosmetic pack. There is also a $69.99 Super Digital Deluxe tier that bundles a digital soundtrack and an art book.
I am still trying to figure out if that means my farmer dresses up as a cow or if my cows get little hats. Either way, the console ports arrive right before the summer gaming drought.
