Phantom Blade Zero opens pre-orders and brings in Donnie Yen
The dark fantasy action game hits PS5 and PC this October, with martial arts actor Donnie Yen providing motion capture.
S-GAME has opened pre-orders for Phantom Blade Zero and locked in an October 29 release date for PlayStation 5 and PC. The developer also revealed that martial arts actor Donnie Yen is working on the game as a creative consultant and motion capture performer.
The action game was originally aiming for a September launch. That window slipped, but the new October date comes with a concrete look at the game's high-speed weapon combat and parry systems. S-GAME is charging $59.99 for the standard edition and $69.99 for the deluxe version on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and PS5.

As previously reported, the combat leans heavily into fast martial arts choreography. Bringing Donnie Yen on board makes sense for that specific tone. He plays a character named Mò Yuán and provided both facial and motion capture for the role.
High-speed carriage fights
One extended sequence takes place on a moving horse-drawn carriage. The protagonist fights off enemies while balancing on the roof. This eventually escalates into a duel against an armored boss called The Hunt, Hunter of the Order.

The user interface relies heavily on parry timing and posture breaks. It doesn't look easy. The camera pulls in tight during dramatic clashes. This highlights the sparks and heavy impacts of the steel weapons. The environments are constantly drenched in rain.
We won't have to wait long for more details. A dedicated State of Play broadcast for the game is scheduled for August 17.
