Once Upon a Katamari's Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC Launches Today

Bandai Namco released the Rolling LIVE Highlights DLC for Once Upon a Katamari. The expansion arrives alongside the game's Nintendo Switch 2 port, but the new content is available across all existing platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. First announced in July, the add-on brings quests and music inspired by the mobile spin-off Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE into the main console release.

The base game launched in 2025. It was the first original console entry in the franchise since 2011, sending the Prince through the Jurassic Period, the Ice Age, and historic Japan to clean up another one of the King's cosmic mistakes. It also introduced new mechanics like a magnet power-up and a four-player competitive mode called KatamariBall. This new DLC shifts the focus from time travel to internet fame.

Chasing the algorithm

The DLC introduces a new hub area called Super Stream, built entirely around a live-streaming aesthetic. Players get ten new quests where the Prince rolls up objects to help the King of All Cosmos chase internet clout.

The King wants clout. That apparently requires rolling up an enormous cluster of rubber ducks in a public bathhouse.

The King has accidentally destroyed the universe multiple times, so pivoting to live streaming feels like a natural career progression. The mobile game Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE was built entirely around the concept of streaming and interacting with a digital audience. Bringing those specific quests into the console environment adapts them for standard controller play. The pack includes twelve background music tracks pulled directly from the mobile release, alongside six new playable Cousins and eighteen costume items. You can buy the expansion separately for $11.99 on the PlayStation Store and other digital storefronts.

New digital bundles

Bandai Namco also released two new digital bundles for players who don't already own the base game. The Rolling Live Highlights Edition packages the core game with the new streaming DLC.

The Royal Sound Edition goes further. It bundles the game and the new DLC with a massive music expansion. It includes the Katamari Damacy Series Neo Remixes, the Dance Dance Remixes, and classic background music tracks from older games.

Switch 2 upgrades

The DLC launch coincides with Once Upon a Katamari's arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2. The new port includes an exclusive mouse control option, a smoother framerate, and enhanced graphics. Existing Switch owners can transfer their save data to the new console, assuming they haven't already started a new file on the system.

Adding mouse controls to a franchise famous for its twin-stick tank movement is a strange choice, but it works as an alternative input method. The base game's KatamariBall mode remains intact across all versions. Players can use the newly unlocked Cousins in those multiplayer matches. The DLC is live now. You can start rolling up the bathhouse ducks immediately.
