Ninja JaJaMaru is coming to PS5 and Switch 2 next year
Clear River Games just dropped the global trailer for Yokai Night Parade, confirming a 2027 release for the top-down action game.
Clear River Games and City Connection have released the global trailer for Ninja JaJaMaru: Yokai Night Parade, confirming the game will launch on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC in 2027. The publisher showed off the footage alongside a playable demo at the Pixel Arcadia showcase during Gamescom 2026.
City Connection originally announced the project in late 2025 under the Japanese title JaJaMaru no Hyakki Yagyou Den. This new trailer gives us our first real look at the localized version and its core mechanics.
The game is a top-down hack-and-slash arcade brawler. Players fight massive swarms of neon-colored yokai in enclosed arenas, with damage numbers flying off enemies during heavy attacks. The combat includes a mix of standard weapon strikes and character-specific abilities.
Players can also summon a giant frog mount in battle to crush enemies. The roster includes several distinct fighters beyond the titular ninja. A character named Siamy gets a spotlight card in the footage, along with Tsubu-yan, an enemy or playable character who carries a boombox straight into the arena.
A shift in perspective
The Ninja JaJaMaru series dates back to the Famicom in 1985. It usually sticks to 2D side-scrolling platforming or simple action mechanics. Moving to a top-down arena format is a massive change, but the bright pixel art keeps the arcade aesthetic intact. The combat looks fast and crowded.
I am curious to see how deep the leveling and loot systems actually go. Arcade brawlers live or die on their progression loops. If City Connection nails the pacing, this could be a great fit for short bursts on a handheld.
