Mega Cat Studios is bundling seven retro games with a physical mobile controller
The €25 Playtiles bundle includes an electronics-free screen overlay and DRM-free ROMs you can export to a flash cart.
Pre-orders are open for the Playtiles x Mega Cat Studios Collection, a €25 bundle that pairs a physical touchscreen controller overlay with seven digital retro games. The campaign launched last week and is scheduled to ship worldwide in October 2026.
The Playtiles device is an electronics-free physical overlay. It attaches directly to an iOS or Android screen to provide tactile feedback over virtual buttons.

Buttons on glass
Virtual directional pads are notoriously terrible for retro gaming. Playtiles attempts to fix this by putting actual plastic over the screen. Because it lacks Bluetooth or internal batteries, it works with any modern smartphone operating system.
The controller requires the included PlaytilesOS app to function correctly. This software acts as a launcher for the bundled titles and also allows users to sideload their own Game Boy and Game Boy Color ROMs.
The included games
Mega Cat Studios, which recently released the NES cartridge JESTER, is providing seven games for this bundle. The lineup includes Romeow and Julicat, Old Towers, Misplaced, Kudzu, Little Medusa, Coffee Crisis, and Devwill Too MD.

These are provided as DRM-free digital downloads. Buyers are not locked into the Playtiles ecosystem. The campaign page confirms you can export the game files to play on a standalone emulator or flash them to a physical cartridge for original hardware.
The bundle is available to reserve through the Playtiles campaign page. If you want actual buttons but refuse to carry a dedicated emulation handheld, this is a relatively cheap experiment.
