Arcade distributor LAI Games is officially shipping the Asphalt 9 Legends Arcade DX Plus cabinet to amusement centers. The massive racing simulator, first unveiled at the AAA Expo in May 2026, upgrades the previous hardware with a towering 85-inch vertical 4K monitor and a full 5D motion platform.
According to a recent LinkedIn update from LAI Games, the units are heading out to operators now. The official product page details the hardware changes, which focus heavily on physical feedback and sheer size.

Wind jets and 23 supercars
The DX Plus cabinet is built by Chinese manufacturer Wahlap Technology in collaboration with IGS and Gameloft. It replaces the standard displays of the 2021 model with a vertical screen that dominates the floor space. The 5D motion system includes integrated seat shakers, force-feedback steering, and wind blowers that blast air at the player during high-speed sections. Dedicated 360-degree stunt buttons allow drivers to execute the franchise's signature barrel rolls and flat spins.
Simulator cabinets like this are the main draw for modern family entertainment centers. You can't easily replicate a hydraulic motion seat and industrial wind blowers in a living room, and the DX Plus leans heavily into this tactile advantage. Wahlap Technology specializes in these large-scale setups. The company frequently collaborates with international publishers to adapt hit properties for arcade centers, prioritizing hardware designs that can survive thousands of players spilling sodas on them.
The software has also expanded. The car roster now includes 23 officially licensed supercars, adding vehicles like the Lamborghini Invencible, Pagani Zonda R, and Porsche Mission R. Players can race across 22 track variations, which introduce new locations in Scotland and New York City. A recent trailer from Wahlap Games shows the cabinet in action, complete with the aggressive neon lighting you expect from a modern arcade racer.
From the N-Gage to the arcade
The Asphalt series has a strange history. It started in 2004 with Asphalt Urban GT on the Nintendo DS and Nokia N-Gage. Playing a racing game on a phone shaped like a taco was a novelty at the time. Two decades later, Gameloft has turned the property into a mobile gaming juggernaut with over a billion downloads worldwide.
The transition to dedicated coin-op hardware happened in 2021. That original Asphalt 9 Legends Arcade release was a massive hit for amusement operators, selling over 10,000 units across its standard, DX motion, and VR configurations. The gameplay loop remains focused on aggressive arcade physics. You drift around impossible corners, hit ramps to trigger aerial stunts, and manage a nitro boost meter. It's loud, fast, and designed to consume credits.
This looks fun! If my family finds ourselves in a Round1 or Dave'n'Busters, we would totally check this out!
The new DX Plus model also supports cross-title link capabilities. Operators can network the cabinets with Moto Blitz DX Plus, allowing up to eight players to compete in mixed car-versus-bike multiplayer races. The machine includes standard modern arcade features like ticket redemption support and online player profiles with global leaderboards.
