AYANEO's Pocket AIR Mini just got a bright yellow B.Duck makeover

AYANEO has released a limited B.Duck edition of its Pocket AIR Mini Android handheld. The company partnered with the Hong Kong character brand to produce a bright yellow version of the budget device for the Lunar New Year. The unit costs $109.99 and is available directly through AYANEO's website.

The collaboration takes the entry-level hardware and leans entirely into the B.Duck aesthetic. It is a loud design choice. The handheld market is currently flooded with transparent plastics and matte black shells. A device that looks like a rubber duck is a welcome change of pace.

It is extremely yellow

The standard Pocket AIR Mini launched in late 2025 as a sub-$100 option for mobile emulation. This new version keeps the exact same physical dimensions but coats the entire shell in vibrant yellow plastic. Custom B.Duck branding surrounds the screen bezels.

AYANEO CEO Arthur Zhang hosted a livestream to show off the hardware. The design team built the unit around a "Be Playful" concept, and they committed to the bit. The back of the device has a large graphic of the mascot character printed right next to the active cooling vents.

The B.Duck IP is massive in Asia. Semk International created the character in 2005, and it has since appeared on everything from credit cards to clothing lines. Putting it on a retro gaming handheld makes a strange kind of sense. The bright colors match the arcade aesthetic of the games the device is meant to play.

Hardware and emulation

Inside the yellow case, the specifications remain identical to the base model. The device runs on a MediaTek Helio G90T processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. A built-in MicroSD card slot lets you add more space.

The display is a 4.2-inch LCD panel with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a 1280x960 resolution. Most modern budget handhelds recycle 16:9 smartphone screens. A 4:3 display matches the native output of older home consoles and arcade boards. You can play classic games natively. There are no stretched images or massive black borders on the sides of the screen.

The controls use Hall effect sensors for both the joysticks and the linear triggers. These magnetic sensors prevent the stick drift issues that plague traditional potentiometers. A 4500mAh battery provides the power. A built-in fan keeps the MediaTek chip cool during heavier processing loads.

That active cooling is necessary because the G90T chip punches slightly above its weight class. It handles 16-bit and 32-bit systems easily. It can also run a decent chunk of the PlayStation 2 and GameCube catalogs. You will not get perfect 60 frames per second on the hardest-to-emulate titles like F-Zero GX, but the performance is solid for a device in this price bracket.

The physical buttons use conductive rubber membranes instead of clicky microswitches. This gives the D-pad and face buttons a softer, more traditional feel that mimics the original controllers from the Super Nintendo era. The layout includes dedicated menu buttons to quickly jump back to the AYASpace launcher or bring up the quick settings overlay.

The system runs on Android 11 and uses AYANEO's custom AYASpace software as a frontend. This overlay lets you manage your game library, adjust fan curves, and tweak performance profiles. You do not have to dig through standard Android menus. Because it is an Android device, you also have full access to the Google Play Store for native mobile games and standalone emulator apps.

The unit weighs 269 grams and measures roughly 166 millimeters wide. It is small enough to actually fit in a pocket, unlike the massive PC gaming handhelds that dominate the current market. The $109.99 price tag is a $10 premium over the standard black and white models. That is a completely reasonable tax to pay for a piece of hardware that looks like a bath toy.
