Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta is coming to Switch this April
XSEED Games is bringing the classic action RPG to the Nintendo Switch with a new arranged soundtrack and a physical edition packed with extras.
XSEED Games has announced that Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta will launch on the Nintendo Switch on April 28, 2026. The digital version will cost $29.99. A physical Day One edition will be available directly through XSEED and Marvelous for $59.99.
The title probably sounds familiar because the game already exists. Nihon Falcom originally released it as Ys: Memories of Celceta for the PlayStation Vita in 2012. It eventually made its way to PC and the PlayStation 4. This new Memoire edition is specifically a Switch remaster. It includes high-definition visuals and an option to swap between the original score and a newly arranged soundtrack.
This is one of my all-time favorite video games. I spent an unhealthy amount of time playing the Vita original. It hits the exact sweet spot of fast-paced action and rewarding exploration.
$30 digital, or $60 for the cloth map
The digital release is straightforward. The physical Day One edition comes with a solid pile of extras. The $60 box includes a Nintendo Switch cartridge, a two-disc soundtrack with 36 tracks, and five character art cards. It also has an acrylic diorama that doubles as a keychain and a 21-by-24-inch cloth map of the Celceta region.
That map is highly relevant to the actual plot. The game follows series protagonist Adol Christin. He wakes up in the frontier town of Casnan with a severe case of amnesia. The local Romun Army general hires Adol and an information dealer named Duren to explore and map the Great Forest of Celceta. As you fill out the map, Adol touches glowing orbs scattered around the wilderness to slowly recover his lost memories.
The messy history of Ys IV
The original fourth chapter of the franchise had a strange development cycle. Falcom outsourced the project in the 1990s. This resulted in two completely different games: Mask of the Sun on the Super Famicom and The Dawn of Ys on the PC Engine. Neither of those 1993 releases ever officially left Japan. When Falcom finally decided to tackle the fourth chapter themselves in 2012, they built Celceta from the ground up to establish the official canon. For the record, it is fact that The Dawn of Ys is the better game. I will die on this hill.
In the overarching franchise timeline, Celceta takes place roughly a year after the events of Ys X: Nordics and right before Ys: The Oath in Felghana.
From a mechanical standpoint, the game is the bridge between two eras of Falcom's design. It took the three-person party combat system introduced in Ys Seven and refined it into the fluid action that eventually perfected itself in Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. You swap between characters on the fly to exploit enemy weaknesses. Each character relies on slash, strike, or pierce attacks.
The Switch port gives a new group of players a chance to play a genuinely great action RPG. The mapping mechanic alone turns basic exploration into a highly addictive loop.
