Wuthering Waves gets a new Xbox Game Pass trailer for Version 3.6
Kuro Games celebrates the action RPG's recent arrival on Microsoft's consoles with fresh mecha combat footage.
Kuro Games has released the Version 3.6 update for Wuthering Waves, alongside a new trailer celebrating the action RPG's arrival on Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass. The Xbox port originally launched last month on July 10. It brings the title to Microsoft's ecosystem after its initial run on PC and mobile devices.
The latest footage focuses entirely on high-speed combat and flashy character abilities. One sequence shows a golden armored mecha executing an aerial slash. Another highlights a blonde character using a water fan ability across a serene landscape. The ESRB rating at the start lists Teen for mild language, sexual themes, and violence.
The long road to Xbox
Wuthering Waves first launched on PC and mobile devices back in May 2024. A PlayStation 5 version followed in early 2025. Xbox players had to wait until this summer to jump in, but the integration goes beyond a simple store listing. The game is fully tied into the Xbox Game Pass ecosystem. It is playable natively on Series X|S consoles, on PC through the Xbox app, and via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
I want to see how the cloud version holds up during the game's more demanding combat encounters. The combat system relies heavily on precise dodges and parries. Cloud latency isn't usually kind to fast-paced action games. Still, having the option is better than nothing.
The game's setting, Solaris-3, is a post-apocalyptic world recovering from a disaster called the Lament. It's standard anime RPG fare, but the execution is solid. The environments look sharp on the Series X. The game uses the hardware to maintain a smooth 60 frames per second during chaotic fights. The original 2024 release required players to manage their stamina carefully, but recent updates have smoothed out the traversal mechanics. You can now run up walls and glide across the map without constantly watching a meter drain.
Well, that happened
The trailer coincides with the Version 3.6 update, which continues the game's post-launch content cycle. Kuro Games hasn't slowed down its update cadence since launch. The studio consistently adds new characters, story chapters, and regions to explore.
The developers have spent the last two years refining the echo system. This mechanic lets players capture defeated enemies and use their abilities in combat. It works a bit like Pokémon, if Pokémon had you perfectly timing blocks against giant mechs.
Game Pass Ultimate members often receive monthly perks for free-to-play games, though Microsoft hasn't detailed specific ongoing rewards for Wuthering Waves just yet. The base game is free regardless of your subscription tier on the official Xbox store. However, the Cloud Gaming functionality requires an Ultimate membership.
For years, massive free-to-play gacha titles routinely skipped Microsoft's consoles entirely. Now, they get dedicated marketing pushes and Game Pass tie-ins. The console war has reached the anime action RPG market. Xbox players finally have a direct competitor to Genshin Impact running natively on their hardware. It even includes full cross-progression support for those who already started playing on their phones.
