UN:Me is bringing its soul-erasing horror to PS5 and Switch 2
Shueisha Games and developer historia are bringing their psychological adventure to consoles in 2026.
Shueisha Games and developer historia have announced that their psychological adventure game UN:Me is coming to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. The game was initially revealed for PC late last year. It is now officially confirmed for a multiplatform console launch.
The developers call UN:Me a "soul triage adventure." You guide a young girl through a mental labyrinth. She harbors multiple souls inside her body. You have to speak with each of them and make a brutal choice about which ones to keep and which ones to erase. The ultimate goal is to figure out who actually owns the body so you can escape.
The game leans heavily into its psychological horror aesthetic. The environments look like a shifting, hostile medical facility. The brutalist architecture and floating, glitchy enemies give off a strong Control vibe. Remedy's 2019 shooter is one of my favorite games of the last decade. I am definitely curious to see if the exploration here matches that unsettling energy.
The team behind the game
Takuya Yamanaka is handling the planning and scenario writing. He previously worked on The Caligula Effect series. His background in writing games about psychological trauma and fractured identities makes him an obvious fit for a project about erasing souls. He has a track record of building complex social dynamics within isolated, unnatural environments.
The development studio, historia Inc., recently worked on the Live A Live remake for Square Enix. They are partnering with Shueisha Games to publish the title. Shueisha has been aggressively expanding its indie publishing label over the last few years. They are clearly looking for projects with strong narrative hooks and mature themes.
The gameplay mixes exploration and narrative choices. You walk down blood-stained hallways and encounter distorted figures. The souls inside the protagonist randomly take control of her body. Each soul brings its own distinct perspective and fears to the surface. You have to adapt your approach based on who is currently in the driver's seat.
These shifting personalities change how you perceive the dangers in the labyrinth. The game forces you to confront these different identities and untangle their memories. You have to analyze their personalities and emotions to determine which soul is genuine. Every decision carries weight. The soul that remains at the end is entirely determined by your choices. It is a dark premise that blurs the line between right and wrong.
Console release plans
UN:Me will launch in 2026. You can wishlist it now on the PlayStation Store and Steam. The official website has not listed a specific date or price point yet. The title will support English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language options at launch.
It is always good to see these narrative-heavy Japanese indie titles get a multiplatform release right out of the gate. Console players often have to wait months or years for PC ports of smaller adventure games. Launching on Steam, PS5, and Switch 2 simultaneously gives the game a much better chance of finding an audience.
