Developer Molegato and publisher Top Hat Studios recently showcased a new trailer for Twinkle's Galactic Tour, a rhythm-based 3D platformer currently in development for PC, during the Top Hat Studios Spring Showcase 2026.

The core hook here is that everything in the environment is tied to the soundtrack. Platforms, enemies, and items all move in sync with the beat, the melody, or the drums of the background music. You play as Twinkle, an aspiring singer who has to travel across the galaxy to rescue her fans after a disaster strikes her debut concert.

I still remember Frogun

Molegato (Spanish developer Raúl Martínez) has a very specific retro design language. He previously released the 32-bit inspired platformer Frogun in 2022, followed by the standalone expansion Frogun Encore in 2024. He also worked on the racing game Supersonic Tank Cats. His previous titles leaned heavily into the chunky polygons and bright color palettes of the early PlayStation and Nintendo 64 era.

Martínez has been very open about his influences. He grew up playing Crash Bandicoot and Mega Man X, and you can see that DNA in his level design. Frogun was a direct homage to the early 32-bit era, complete with a CRT filter option and unfiltered textures. Twinkle's Galactic Tour looks like a natural evolution of that style. It moves away from the grid-based movement of his last game into something more fluid.

The gameplay relies entirely on rhythm. Players can explore neon alien cities in the open hubs, take on side quests from locals, and ride around in a space van driven by Twinkle's roadie, Bav. The platforming stages include optional objectives like time trials and hidden CDs. Collecting these CDs grants crafting materials for new tools. You can then take those tools back to previous areas to reach new places. This adds a light backtracking element to the standard level progression.

PC only for now

The game is currently confirmed for a PC release via Steam. There is no official release date yet. It is currently listed as "To be announced." It will launch with full controller support. Xbox, DualShock, and DualSense gamepads will work natively.

Rhythm platformers are notoriously difficult to tune correctly. Tying jump physics to a strict musical grid means the developer has to balance standard platforming momentum against the rigid timing of a metronome. Games like Hi-Fi Rush and Crypt of the NecroDancer solved this by making the rhythm a combat multiplier rather than a strict traversal requirement. Molegato is taking the harder route by making the actual level geometry pulse to the music.

I am curious to see how the hangout system works in practice. The narrative focuses on the struggles of making it as an artist. It includes relationship-building mechanics tied to the supporting cast. We will find out how well the rhythm platforming and social mechanics blend together whenever Top Hat Studios decides on a final release date.
