Time-stopping platformer A Frog's Job 2 is out this week
Ratalaika Games returns with another bite-sized puzzle platformer about a dead frog reaping souls.
Ratalaika Games and developer 9 Eyes Game Studio are releasing A Frog's Job 2: Froggina for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC later this week. The puzzle-platformer sequel launches on May 29. It brings back the time-manipulation mechanics of the 2022 original.
The premise is straightforward. You play as a deceased frog tasked with guiding 40 lost amphibian souls to the afterlife. Your boss is a giant, glowing deity known as the Frog God.

Middle management, but for frogs
The main mechanic is a time-stopping ability. The screen turns black and white when the protagonist freezes time to bypass fast-moving obstacles and deadly hazards.

The pixel-art jungle environments are full of spike pits and floating platforms. The developer built the puzzle design around figuring out exactly when to pause the clock. If you stop time too early, you cannot make the jump. If you stop it too late, you hit the spikes. The margin for error appears to be quite small. You will need tight reflexes and a lot of trial and error to get through the later stages.

It is a demanding system masked by a cheerful chiptune soundtrack and bright visuals. The animation is smooth, and the backgrounds have nice parallax scrolling effects. The Frog God is always watching your progress. That is either a fun piece of lore or a subtle threat. Possibly both.
A violent afterlife
Despite the bright colors and upbeat music, the game carries an ESRB rating of Everyone 10+ for Fantasy Violence and Mild Blood. It turns out that missing a jump and landing in a spike pit has consequences, even if you are already dead. The contrast between the cheerful presentation and the constant threat of impalement gives the game a slightly dark undertone.
You are a dead frog reaping the souls of other dead frogs. The entire concept is a bit morbid when you stop and think about it. The time-bending mechanics just add a layer of puzzle-solving to the grim reality of your new job.
Quick completions
The original A Frog's Job released in October 2022. It built a specific audience very quickly. Ratalaika Games has a well-known reputation in the console ecosystem for publishing bite-sized indie games with extremely accessible achievement and trophy lists. The first game was a staple in the achievement-hunting community. Players could unlock the full 1000 Gamerscore or a Platinum trophy in about 15 minutes by clearing the early levels. The budget price tag made it an easy impulse buy for trophy hunters looking to boost their stats.
Froggina follows that exact same blueprint. The achievement list went live earlier this month. It asks players to save souls and clear the first 20 levels to unlock everything. You do not actually have to beat the game to get the rewards. You just need to show up and do the bare minimum. We should all be so lucky.
The publisher is releasing the game across almost every active platform. You can pick it up on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The cross-generation support ensures that players who have not yet upgraded their consoles can still jump in.
There are no sprawling skill trees or open-world elements here. Froggina is just a frog with a pocket watch trying to hit a quota. Sometimes a tight set of platforming levels is all a game needs to be.
