The next Triple-i Initiative showcase is bringing 40 indie games this April

Evil Empire has announced the third Triple-i Initiative indie game showcase will air on April 9 at 9:00 a.m. PT (April 10 at 1:00 a.m. JST, according to 4Gamer). The digital event promises 45 minutes of back-to-back trailers, world premieres, and gameplay reveals for over 40 titles.

The organizers are sticking to the format they established during their inaugural 2024 event. The broadcast will skip the usual industry fluff. That means no sponsors, no awkward host banter, and no ad breaks. It is just a continuous stream of video game announcements. Following the main presentation, a dedicated post-show will offer deeper dives and extended gameplay looks at a handful of the featured games.

The Triple-i Initiative was born out of a desire to cut through the noise of modern gaming presentations. When it debuted, the organizers promised a tight runtime packed entirely with games. The strategy worked. The event quickly gained traction in the indie gaming community for revealing highly anticipated titles without the padding that drags down other broadcasts.

Castlevania and Risk of Rain 2 confirmed

Several major indie publishers are already locked in for the event. Devolver Digital, Klei, sunset visitor, and tinyBuild are all confirmed to participate. The initial teaser trailer also revealed a partial lineup of games making an appearance. Viewers can expect updates on Brotato, Risk of Rain 2, Warhammer Survivors, and Rift of the Necrodancer. Brotato in particular has been on a massive run lately, so a new DLC announcement or console port update seems likely.

We will also see more of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse. This is the upcoming Metroidvania developed by Evil Empire in partnership with Konami. The studio previously handled the massive Return to Castlevania expansion for Dead Cells. Now they are building a standalone entry in the classic gothic franchise. Other confirmed titles include Alkahest, Dead as Disco, and Windrose.

I am personally hoping we get a firm release date for the new Castlevania. Evil Empire proved they understand the Belmont family with their previous crossover work. A full game in that universe is exactly what the franchise needs right now. I am also fully prepared to watch the chat spam requests for Hollow Knight: Silksong, even though we all know it is not going to be there.

Eight world premieres on the schedule

The showcase will feature eight brand new game announcements alongside updates for existing titles. This mix of reveals and ongoing support updates has been the standard for the Triple-i Initiative since it started. Past events have given us massive drops like the reveal of Slay the Spire 2 and the surprise release of Vampire Survivors expansions.

Evil Empire originally formed in 2019 out of former Motion Twin staff. Their initial purpose was solely to keep Dead Cells updated with post-launch content as the original creators moved on to new projects. They spent years releasing massive expansions like The Bad Seed and Fatal Falls.

Now they are operating as a major indie powerhouse in their own right. Beyond organizing this annual showcase, they launched The Rogue Prince of Persia into Early Access in 2024. Its full 1.0 release occurred on August 20, 2025.

The Triple-i Initiative itself has become a reliable alternative to the massive summer gaming events. It gives smaller studios a place to drop world premieres without getting buried under massive marketing budgets from Sony or Microsoft.
