SNK has released the character trailer and set an August 27 release date for Duck King in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. The breakdancing martial artist was previously confirmed for the Season 3 roster during a July roadmap update, but this latest announcement provides a look at his gameplay and details his role in the game's single-player campaign.

According to the official character announcement, Duck King arrives with dual voice options. Cedric Williams (known for roles in Genshin Impact and Fire Emblem Engage) handles the English dub, and Anri Katsu (A Certain Magical Index) provides the Japanese voice work. The trailer shows off his updated design, which retains his trademark sunglasses, baggy pants, and mohawk. He even brought the pet chick.

Still spinning on his head

Duck King is a legacy character who debuted in the original 1991 Fatal Fury: King of Fighters arcade game. He fights using a hybrid style of martial arts and rhythmic breakdancing moves, usually accompanied by his bird, P-Chan. Over the decades, he appeared in Fatal Fury Special, Real Bout Fatal Fury, and eventually crossed over into The King of Fighters XI in 2005.

His inclusion in City of the Wolves makes sense given his deep ties to the setting. The character is a regular at South Town's Pao Pao Cafe and maintains a long-standing, friendly rivalry with series protagonist Terry Bogard.

City of the Wolves launched in April 2025, ending a 26-year mainline hiatus that began after 1999's Garou: Mark of the Wolves. The revival modernized the franchise by combining classic mechanics like Just Defend and Selective Potential Gear with the new REV System, which governs specialized arts and cancels. A fast, rhythmic character with tricky footwork should fit well into an engine built around aggressive cancels.

A rematch with Krauser

The August 27 update integrates the character into the game's solo RPG mode, Episodes of South Town (EOST). Duck King's campaign centers on his desire for revenge against Wolfgang Krauser.

The storyline establishes that Duck King suffered a massive defeat at Krauser's hands years ago. Terry Bogard later defeated the would-be emperor, seemingly ruining Duck King's chances for a runback. Now that Krauser has returned to South Town, the rematch is back on the table. Fighting an armored aristocrat with floor spins seems like a tactical error, but you have to respect the commitment.

Outside of the RPG mode, Duck King also gets a dedicated Arcade Mode storyline. This narrative focuses on teaming up with Richard Meyer to save the Pao Pao Cafe from an unspecified threat.
