The Assault: Survivor is free on Epic until March 13

Black Apple's 2024 co-op survival game The Assault: Survivor is free on the Epic Games Store starting today, March 8, through March 13. The promotion is not part of Epic's standard Thursday giveaway rotation. It is an independent offer run directly by the developer.

Released in June 2024, The Assault: Survivor usually costs $3.99. It is a top-down action game set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where players shoot mutants, scavenge for supplies, and level up. The core gameplay loop relies heavily on online co-op multiplayer. Players team up to clear out mutant hordes and manage a card-based system for character abilities instead of a traditional skill tree.

Cards and mutants

The indie survival genre is incredibly saturated on PC. The Assault: Survivor attempts to stand out by blending standard twin-stick shooting mechanics with deck-building elements. You are dropped into a gray wasteland, handed a gun, and told to survive against waves of enemies. The cards dictate your loadout and passive buffs.
