Undercover Cops and nine other arcade games hit the Egret Two Mini in 2027
Taito's tabletop arcade console reaches 100 total titles with the Arcade Collection PART 2 expansion card, adding games from Universal and Irem.
Taito has announced Arcade Collection PART 2 for the Egret Two Mini, a 10-game SD card expansion scheduled to launch on March 25, 2027. The release is priced at 9,878 yen. It bundles the software with a 32-page strategy guide and 10 mini instruction cards.
With this fifth expansion card, the tabletop console's total playable library hits 100 games. The Egret Two Mini originally launched in 2022 with 40 built-in Taito classics, and its defining hardware gimmick is a 5-inch, 4:3 aspect ratio screen that physically rotates. You just push the screen in, pop it out, and turn it 90 degrees. It solves the letterboxing problem for vertical arcade shooters.
Expanding the roster
This release follows Arcade Collection PART 1, which launched in December 2025 and brought 10 titles from Technos Japan and Data East to the system. PART 2 continues that third-party trend by licensing games from Universal Entertainment and Irem Software Engineering.
Universal Entertainment was a major player in the early 1980s arcade scene before pivoting heavily to pachinko and pachislot machines. Cheeky Mouse (1980) is a very early action game where players smash mice with a hammer. Snapjack (1982) and Jumping Jack (1984) are relatively obscure, making their inclusion here a nice win for arcade historians. Mr. Do vs. Unicorn (1983) is the sequel to the highly successful Mr. Do!, swapping the digging mechanics for a fixed-screen platforming layout where you drop blocks on enemies. Ladybug (1981) is a standout. It offered complex revolving turnstiles that set it apart from standard Pac-Man clones of the era.
Irem defined the arcade shoot-'em-up genre with R-Type, but their early 1990s output across all genres is excellent. Gallop (1991) is a side-scrolling shooter that actually ties into the R-Type universe. It focuses on fast-paced combat. Thunder Blaster (1991), known as Lethal Thunder outside Japan, is a vertical shooter with a unique weapon-combining system. Perfect Soldiers (1993) was Irem's attempt to capture the Street Fighter II fighting game market. The real draws here are the beat-'em-ups: Undercover Cops (1992) and Baseball Fighting League Man (1993), better known in the West as Ninja Baseball Bat Man. Undercover Cops is a post-apocalyptic brawler. Its hand-drawn sprite animations heavily influenced the team's later work on the Metal Slug franchise.
More violet plastic
Alongside the software, Taito is releasing three new violet-colored peripheral controllers on December 17, 2026. The lineup includes a control pad, a six-button arcade control panel, and a paddle and trackball controller.
The paddle controller is basically a requirement if you want to properly play analog games like Arkanoid or Syvalion. Keeping up with the Egret Two Mini ecosystem requires a dedicated shelf and a very healthy budget.
The new peripherals support two-player simultaneous play. You will need that for the Irem beat-'em-ups on the new SD card.
