Sintopia's hellish management sim is coming to PC this April

Piraknights Games and Team17 are bringing their underworld management simulator Sintopia to PC on April 16. The launch date covers the full 1.0 release on Steam. The game drops players into the role of a newly promoted middle manager at Hell Incorporated.

The core gameplay loop splits your attention between two distinct layers of existence. Down in the underworld, your job is to construct sin-processing facilities and manage a chaotic workforce of demons (officially called "imployees"). Your ultimate goal is to turn eternal damnation into a highly optimized and profitable corporate enterprise. Up above, you monitor the Overworld and its inhabitants. The game calls these surface-dwellers the Humus.

You do not just sit back and watch the Humus go about their lives. As an administrator, you have access to ten different "Administrative Magic" spells to directly interfere with the surface world. You can choose to be a benevolent middle manager by casting Healing Rain to help the Humus thrive. Alternatively, you can lean into the corporate villain role. The spell list includes aggressive options like Force Push or a literal Extinction Event. If a specific Humus is walking too slowly or acting out of line, you can just set their house on fire with them inside it.

A change in the release pipeline

Sintopia has taken an unusual path to its April launch. Piraknights Games originally announced the project back in October 2024. At the time, the studio planned to release the game into Steam Early Access sometime in 2025. The developers later changed their minds. They opted to skip the early access phase entirely and keep the game in the oven until it was ready for a full release.

The extra development time allowed the team to build out a complete campaign mode. The story spans eight maps (two tutorial levels and six main stages) and includes full voice acting in both English and French. Players can tackle the campaign across four difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Masochist.

If you prefer to ignore the narrative, the game has a highly customizable sandbox mode. You can adjust the simulation parameters to create a relaxing city-builder experience or crank up the hostility for a brutal survival challenge.

Corporate rivalries

Running Hell is not just about balancing spreadsheets and torturing souls. You also have to deal with the Seven Deadly Sins. These entities act as rival bosses within the simulation. Each Sin has a unique design and a specific set of powers they will use to try and take over your settlement. You have to keep your own corruption levels in check, or you risk triggering a demonic invasion that will ruin your quarterly profit margins.

The art direction leans heavily into a cartoonish 1980s aesthetic. The underworld is full of neon colors, clunky computer terminals, and demons wearing sunglasses. It is a bright and colorful take on eternal suffering.

Sintopia will be available on Steam. I have been looking for a new management game exactly like this, and I can't wait to play it. The blend of corporate satire and classic god-game mechanics looks like a great time, and I am fully prepared to ruin some virtual lives just to hit my quarterly quotas.
