Shockwave Triggers is coming to consoles this October
Shinu Real Arts' vertical bullet hell is making the jump from PC to Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox on October 14, with physical PS5 copies up for preorder soon.
Eastasiasoft is bringing Shinu Real Arts' vertical shoot 'em up Shockwave Triggers to consoles on October 14. The digital release spans the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. For physical collectors, PlayStation 5 disc preorders open on September 17 through the publisher's official store.
The console ports were initially revealed during Eastasiasoft's summer showcase in June. The game itself has been out on PC since October 2025. Developer Shinu Real Arts previously built the hand-drawn horizontal shooter Wings of Bluestar, but they shifted to dense, high-resolution pixel art for this project. It looks like a mid-90s arcade cabinet, complete with anime-styled cutscenes between the action.
Canceling bullets into gems
The core mechanic is right in the title. Players use a timed shockwave system to cancel incoming enemy projectile salvos, converting the bullets into collectable score gems. It is a classic risk-reward loop. You let the screen fill with lethal clutter, trigger the shockwave at the last possible second, and vacuum up the points.
The game features six stages of escalating bullet hell. You choose between two distinct pilots, Amira and Turbo B, who carry different weapon loadouts and defensive options. Local two-player co-op is also supported. I want to see how the shockwave timing holds up when two players are simultaneously trying to clear the screen, which usually turns co-op bullet hells into a chaotic mess of overlapping particle effects.
Shinu Real Arts operates in a very specific space. Wings of Bluestar was a sprawling, story-heavy horizontal shooter that took years to finish. Shockwave Triggers is a tighter, more focused vertical arcade experience. The shift from horizontal to vertical scrolling completely changes how you manage screen space. In a horizontal game, you're usually managing terrain and walls alongside the enemies. Vertical bullet hells strip away the terrain to focus entirely on pattern recognition and micro-dodging.
The console arcade pipeline

Eastasiasoft has built a reliable business moving indie arcade games from Steam to console storefronts. It's a practical pipeline. The PC version of Shockwave Triggers launched at $9.99, establishing a low barrier to entry for casual players. The digital console versions should follow suit.
The physical PS5 edition is a different proposition. Preorders open this Thursday. The publisher frequently partners with Play-Asia for these limited print runs, targeting the subset of players who still want a box on their shelf. Physical media for niche genres is getting harder to justify for small studios. Handing the logistics to a publisher like Eastasiasoft makes sense. They handle the manufacturing and distribution, while the developer focuses on the code.
The digital launch hits all major platforms simultaneously next month. The Switch version will likely run just fine, as 2D pixel art doesn't usually tax the Tegra chip unless the engine is poorly optimized. The Xbox and PlayStation versions are native to both the last and current generation. It's a smart move to keep the PS4 and Xbox One in the mix. A lot of arcade stick owners still use their older consoles as dedicated fighting and shooting boxes.
