Sega has confirmed that its new permanent retail location, Sega Store Osaka, will officially open on October 2, 2026, on the sixth floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO. The doors open at 10:00 AM. Following a brief teaser video last week, the official Sega Store Osaka website now lists the exact address and operating hours for the upcoming shop.

When will they open some of these in the west?! Please, Sega!!! A permanent store in North America or Europe would absolutely print money.

This marks the company's first permanent flagship store in the Kansai region. It follows the launch of Sega Store Tokyo, which opened in Shibuya in July 2025. The physical retail push is part of a broader strategy to leverage 65 years of intellectual property. Sega wants to sell you more than just video games, and dedicated storefronts are how they plan to do it.

Sharing shelf space

The Osaka flagship will cover merchandise from both Sega and its RPG subsidiary Atlus. Visitors can expect goods based on Sonic the Hedgehog, Like a Dragon, Persona, and Puyo Puyo. Sega acquired Atlus in 2013, and the developer's dark fantasy RPGs have only grown in global popularity since then. Having a dedicated retail space to sell high-margin merchandise for games like Persona 5 and Shin Megami Tensei V is a logical business move.

Sonic the Hedgehog remains the face of the brand, just as he has been since 1991. However, the inclusion of Like a Dragon merchandise feels particularly fitting for this specific location. The fictional district of Sotenbori, featured heavily throughout the series, is directly based on Osaka's Dotonbori area, which sits just a short walk from Shinsaibashi PARCO. Selling Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima goods in the heart of the city that inspired their adventures is a great touch.

The Tokyo location debuted with over 800 distinct items, ranging from character plushies to retro arcade art and designer vinyl toys. The Osaka shop will follow suit. The official site notes that the store will offer regional collaboration items and limited-run collectibles alongside standard merchandise. In Japan, regional merchandise is a massive driver of retail traffic, meaning even fans who have already visited the Tokyo store will have a reason to make the trip.

The Shinsaibashi footprint

The location choice is deliberate. Shinsaibashi PARCO's sixth floor is designated as a pop culture retail zone, and it already hosts official merchandise outlets for other gaming companies like Capcom. Adding a permanent Sega and Atlus presence turns the floor into a dense hub for gaming tourists. The store design itself includes dual-sided transparent LED screens and flexible ambient lighting, aiming for a flashy retail environment rather than a standard mall kiosk.
