SEGA's playable Gamescom 2026 lineup includes Alien: Isolation 2 and Crazy Taxi

SEGA has confirmed its playable lineup for Gamescom 2026, bringing hands-on demos of five major upcoming titles to the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany, from August 26 to August 30.

According to a short teaser trailer posted to SEGA's YouTube channel, attendees will be able to play Alien: Isolation 2, Persona 4 Revival, Crazy Taxi: World Tour, Total War: Warhammer 40,000, and Stranger Than Heaven. The 19-second video flashes through the logos and brief gameplay snippets with a simple directive to "Come play them all."

A very stressful prologue

The standout for horror fans is the playable prologue for Alien: Isolation 2. The Gamescom demo will be the first time the public can get their hands on the survival horror game.

The original game built a massive cult following entirely on the back of its terrifyingly intelligent Xenomorph AI. We will soon find out if the sequel can replicate that specific brand of claustrophobic anxiety.

Three scenarios of grimdark strategy

Creative Assembly is also bringing Total War: Warhammer 40,000 to the show floor. The Gamescom booth will feature three distinct playable scenarios for the strategy game. This is the studio's first attempt at adapting Games Workshop's sci-fi universe after finishing their massive fantasy Warhammer trilogy.

Atlus is bringing Persona 4 Revival, a full modern remake of the 2008 PlayStation 2 RPG. Atlus is applying the same visual overhaul and stylized combat updates to the rural murder mystery of Inaba. The original Persona 4 (and its Vita expansion, Persona 4 Golden) is largely responsible for pushing the franchise into the mainstream in the West.

Drifting into 2027

For arcade racing fans, Crazy Taxi: World Tour will have a playable map available. The new entry features five distinct cities and keeps the chaotic, high-speed driving that defined the original games. The original Crazy Taxi hit arcades in 1999 before becoming a defining launch window title for the Sega Dreamcast. Finding out if the new physics model feels right is going to be the main test for the Gamescom demo.

Finally, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is showing off Stranger Than Heaven. The developers behind the Like a Dragon series are bringing their mysterious new retro-aesthetic project, which is centered around an underground jazz club. This will be its hands-on debut in Europe. RGG Studio has spent the last two decades refining the dense, urban brawler formula in Kamurocho, so a pivot to an underground jazz club is a notable shift in tone.

SEGA is setting up shop in Hall 7 of the Koelnmesse. Between a terrifying Xenomorph AI and whatever is happening in an underground jazz club, the publisher is bringing a very weird, very loud mix of games to Germany next month.
