Picross S is getting a massive Konami crossover this April

Jupiter Corporation has announced Picross S KONAMI ANTIQUES edition, a new puzzle collection that launches for the Nintendo Switch on April 30, 2026.

This looks like another solid excuse to keep doing it. Priced at $17.99, the game pulls from over 80 classic Konami titles. You will see familiar faces from Castlevania, Contra, and Gradius, along with deeper cuts from TwinBee, Ganbare Goemon, and even some of their older sports games and dating sims.

Over 300 puzzles and a music player

To be clear, this is a brand new game announcement, not a port of an older title. Jupiter built this entry specifically for the Switch eShop. The "Antiques" part of the title is just a nod to Konami's retro catalog, similar to the old Konami Antiques MSX Collection released on the original PlayStation and Sega Saturn in the late 1990s.

The package includes 150 standard Picross puzzles and 150 Mega Picross puzzles. If you have not played the recent entries, Mega Picross introduces hint numbers that span across two rows or columns. This completely changes the logic required to solve the grid. You also get 30 Color Picross stages, five Extra mode puzzles, and five Clip Picross images. Those Clip Picross images are broken down into 200 smaller pieces that you solve individually to reveal a massive picture.

There is also a Time Attack mode with 30 carefully chosen puzzles. In this mode, the Konami characters actually react to your button inputs as you race against the clock.

The biggest addition to this specific crossover is the new Music Player. You can listen to classic Konami arcade and console tunes at your leisure while you play.

Following up the Capcom and SNK editions

The game is a Switch exclusive. This keeps with Jupiter's long-standing relationship with Nintendo hardware. The $17.99 price tag puts it right in line with their previous crossover editions. If you live in Europe, it will run you €17.99, and in Japan, it costs ¥1,800.

Jupiter has been the steward of Nintendo's nonogram franchise since Mario's Picross hit the Game Boy in 1995. Makoto Nakayama founded the company and pitched the idea to Nintendo after seeing the popularity of pen-and-paper nonograms in Japan. Shigeru Miyamoto oversaw the original project and suggested adding Mario to the mix.

After developing several entries for Nintendo across multiple platforms, Jupiter started self-publishing the Picross e series on the 3DS. They eventually moved to the Switch with the Picross S series. That lineup has now seen nine mainline entries and a growing list of spin-offs.

Recently, the developer has been on a massive retro crossover kick. We saw the Capcom and SNK editions drop late last year. Before that, they tackled Sega's Genesis and Master System libraries. They have even done crossovers with Sanrio and the anime series Overlord.

The Konami Antiques edition is just the latest way to turn 8-bit and 16-bit sprites into grid-based logic puzzles. The Switch has become the default home for these games, and Jupiter seems perfectly happy to keep mining classic publishers for new puzzle material. I am certainly not complaining.
