Roll Up: Fangamer's Magnetic Katamari Plush Set is Back in Stock

Merchandise manufacturer Fangamer has announced that its official Prince and Katamari plush set is back in stock. The set is part of the company's licensed Katamari Damacy collection and features magnetic components that allow the Prince to physically attach to and roll his Katamari.

For those who missed the PlayStation 2 era, Katamari Damacy is a game about a tiny green prince rolling a sticky ball around until it becomes large enough to consume stars, islands, and screaming pedestrians. It is weird, it is colorful, and it is arguably one of the most distinct titles Namco ever published.

Thematic Adhesion

While plush toys with magnetic hands are common in the collector market, Fangamer highlights the specific relevance of the feature for this character. In the game, the entire mechanical loop is based on adhesion. You touch something, it sticks, and the ball grows.

"Lots of our plushes have magnets, but few of them are as thematically necessary as the ones in our Prince and Katamari plush set," Fangamer stated in the announcement.

The implementation here allows the Prince plush to hold the Katamari ball, replicating the "rolling" posture seen on the original 2004 box art. It is a small detail, but accuracy matters to enthusiasts who still have the game's soundtrack stuck in their heads twenty years later.

Preserving the Weird

Physical merchandise often serves as a preservation tool for gaming culture, keeping the memory of specific titles alive long after their consoles have been retired. Katamari Damacy launched in 2004 and quickly established itself as a cult classic due to its surreal humor and innovative gameplay. Seeing high-quality merchandise produced for it in 2026 suggests the King of All Cosmos still has a significant following.

The set is available now through Fangamer's official store. It serves as a quieter, softer alternative to actually rolling up your living room furniture into a giant ball.
