Ubisoft just released a gameplay trailer for Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, which is now available for pre-order. The footage gives us a direct look at the 4K visual upgrades, new collectibles, and quality-of-life adjustments coming to the 2011 platformer. This remastered version is included in the Rayman Legends Retold package, which launches this fall.

Until now, the focus has largely been on the Legends side of the release. This new trailer finally puts the spotlight on the Origins remaster, confirming it is getting a native resolution bump rather than just a simple upscaling job.

15 years of UbiArt

When Rayman Origins originally launched on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii, it was a massive shift for the franchise. It rescued the character from years of Raving Rabbids minigame spin-offs and brought him back to his 2D roots. It also introduced the UbiArt Framework engine. That engine allowed artists to drop their hand-drawn 2D assets directly into the game without heavy compression or polygon conversion.

Because of how UbiArt handles assets, the original game still looks remarkably clean on older hardware. Running it at a native 4K resolution takes things a step further. You can see early levels in the Glade of Dreams and a later boss fight against the Mecha-Carnivora in the new footage. The line work on the character sprites is completely crisp. You can spot individual pencil strokes and shading gradients that were previously softened by 720p output limits.

Tweaking the chest chases

Alongside the visual bump, Ubisoft is adding new quality-of-life features, extra collectibles, and new rewards. I am incredibly curious to see what those quality-of-life adjustments actually entail. The original game is notoriously demanding in its later half. The Tricky Treasure chest chase levels require near-perfect memorization and timing. If the developers added a way to restart those sequences faster or adjusted the checkpointing, it would save a lot of modern players some serious frustration.

The new collectibles also give returning players a reason to scour the levels again. The original release was already packed with Electoons to rescue and Lum medals to earn. Tying new rewards to these additions makes the Enhanced Edition feel like a proper remaster rather than a passive pack-in bonus.

October 1 across six platforms

You cannot buy Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition on its own. It is bundled directly into Rayman Legends Retold, which is a massive reimagining of the 2013 sequel. That package includes four-player couch co-op, new musical stages, and a brand new realm to explore.

The entire collection launches on October 1, 2026. It is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo Switch 2. Cloud gaming players can also access it via GeForce Now and Blacknut.

Bundling both games together makes a lot of sense. Legends originally included a large chunk of Origins levels as unlockable bonus content, but they were modified to fit the sequel's mechanics. Having the complete, untouched original game available in the same package preserves the distinct pacing and level design of the 2011 release. It is a massive package of 2D platforming, and it is nice to see Ubisoft treating their back catalog with this level of care.
