Psycho Dead is bringing psychic survival horror to PS5 and PC
Moon Catalyst's upcoming action game blends classic survival horror with telekinetic combat, and there is already a demo available on Steam.
Moon Catalyst has released a new combat trailer for Psycho Dead, a third-person survival horror game scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC in 2026. The game mixes traditional resource management and supernatural combat inside a ruined research facility. Built in Unreal Engine, this is the debut original project from Moon Catalyst. The Thailand-based independent studio previously focused on providing full-cycle game development and 3D asset outsourcing for other companies before shifting focus to their own horror title.
You play as Elixia, a protagonist who wakes up in the Arcadia laboratory with no memory and a suite of psychic powers. The entire setup gives off heavy Control vibes. So I'm obviously all in on this one. It just swaps Remedy's brutalist office buildings for blood-soaked hallways and mutated scientists. Instead of fighting an interdimensional resonance, you are trying to escape a secret lab infested with grotesque monsters.
The game earns its Mature 17+ rating for blood, gore, and intense violence. The environments are covered in organic growths, and the enemy designs are appropriately disturbing. You spend most of your time navigating the Atlas Research Facility. There, you fight twisted creations born from whatever experiments were happening before the outbreak.
The developers refer to these primary enemies as Stalkers. They are relentless mutations that possess unique abilities to hunt Elixia down. The creature designs include a massive female mutation with exposed flesh and multiple limbs that looks like it belongs in a Resident Evil boss fight.
Throwing furniture with your mind
Elixia has access to standard firearms like submachine guns, but her psychic toolkit is the main draw.
Moon Catalyst has outlined four primary abilities for combat and puzzle-solving. Psychokinesis lets you pull objects closer and push them away at high speeds. Shock Shot acts as a kinetic projectile with the force of a bullet. Barrier creates a frontal shield to block incoming attacks.
The most aggressive power is Crush. It lets you continuously compress a target until it implodes. The studio says they are mixing these heavy action elements with classic survival horror mechanics. That means you still have to deal with limited resources and puzzle-solving between the combat encounters. You can choose to engage enemies with brute force or use stealth evasion to conserve ammo and psychic energy.

The story also has a few narrative mysteries. A figure in a red futuristic suit with a domed helmet tracks Elixia through the facility. They look like a primary antagonist or rival. The game also includes a challenging ranking system and multiple difficulty modes for players who want to test their resource management skills.
The full release is not coming until later in 2026, but you do not have to wait that long to see how the combat feels. Moon Catalyst released a playable demo on Steam late last year that covers the first 45 to 60 minutes of the game. You can also find more details on the developer's official website. The system requirements recommend an SSD, which makes sense given how fast you will be throwing laboratory equipment at mutated stalkers.
