PlayStation Plus adds Chained Echoes and three more for September
Sony's monthly subscription drop includes Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, and Chained Echoes starting September 1.
Sony has announced the September 2026 lineup for PlayStation Plus Essential, bringing four games to the base tier of the subscription service. Starting Tuesday, September 1, members can claim Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, and Chained Echoes. All four titles will remain available to add to your digital library until Monday, October 5.
Headshots and home runs
Rebellion Developments released Sniper Elite: Resistance in January 2025. The tactical shooter runs parallel to the events of Sniper Elite 5, putting players in the shoes of Special Operations Executive agent Harry Hawker in occupied France. The game includes the standard co-op campaign options, along with the chaotic Axis Invasion mode where you can drop into another player's session as an enemy sniper. If you prefer standard multiplayer, it has 16-player competitive battles and a four-player cooperative Survival mode. According to the PlayStation Blog, the PS Plus drop covers both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game.
MLB The Show 26 is the only game in this month's batch restricted entirely to the PS5. Sony San Diego Studio's annual baseball simulator adds collegiate teams to its Road to the Show career mode this year, giving players 11 new college programs to choose from. It also introduces a Red Diamond rarity tier to the Diamond Dynasty card-collecting mode. PlayStation Plus members who claim the game also receive a Jump Start Bundle, which packs in five Show Packs, an Equipment Pack, and a Jumpstart Choice Pack to speed up the early grind.
Physics engines and mechs
Wobbly Life is a physics-based sandbox game from RubberBandGames that originally launched in early access back in 2020. It supports up to four players in local split-screen or online multiplayer. You wander around an open-world island, complete odd jobs to earn cash, buy vehicles, and watch the physics engine cause constant, unpredictable chaos. It is exactly the kind of messy multiplayer game that thrives on a subscription service, mostly because you can easily convince three friends to download it without asking them to spend any money.
The actual best game in the drop
Chained Echoes is the critical highlight of the month. Solo developer Matthias Linda spent roughly seven years building this 16-bit style turn-based RPG before publisher Deck13 Spotlight released it in December 2022. It borrows heavily from Super Nintendo and original PlayStation classics like Chrono Trigger and Xenogears, but it speeds up the combat pacing and removes random encounters entirely. The battle system relies on an Overdrive meter that forces you to constantly switch up your attack types to avoid overheating. You also eventually get to pilot customizable mechs. The PS Plus version is the PS4 release, though it runs on a PS5 through backward compatibility. I am curious to see how the overdrive combat system holds up on a second playthrough.
Before the September games go live, you have until Monday, August 31, to claim the outgoing August titles. That batch includes Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition, Big Walk, and Signalis. Once you add them to your library, you keep access to them as long as your PlayStation Plus subscription remains active.

Sniper Elite: Resistance is available on Humble Bundle for $27.49 (45% off).
