Playasia just kicked off its 2026 summer sale

The online import retailer Playasia has launched its 2026 Summer Sale. The event includes discounts of up to 80 percent on physical games, digital titles, and merchandise through July 20.

Getting the box across the ocean

The free shipping threshold is set at $99. Playasia has outlined exact weight requirements to qualify for the waived shipping fees. The total order weight needs to reach at least 1900g. Individual items are calculated at 299g with a volume of 999 cubic centimeters. It is a slightly convoluted math equation. Adding four or five standard physical games to a cart usually clears the hurdle without issue.

Playasia has been operating since the early 2000s. The company acts as a vital bridge for Western players who want access to Japanese and Asian regional releases. Before digital storefronts made region-hopping relatively easy, importing physical discs was the only way to play niche titles. Today, the Nintendo Switch and modern PlayStation consoles are completely region-free. You can buy a physical cartridge from Japan or Hong Kong, put it in a North American console, and it will boot up immediately.

Many of these Asian releases also include full English language support on the cartridge. This bypasses the need to download language packs or rely on digital storefronts. As domestic physical releases become less common, import sites are often the only way to get a game on a disc or cartridge.

H2 Interactive and digital keys

The sale highlights discounts on titles from H2 Interactive. Founded in 2009, this South Korean publisher is heavily involved in localizing AAA games and bringing Japanese titles to the Korean market. Their catalog includes regional publishing duties for games like BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, Raiden IV, and River City Super Sports Challenge. Publisher discounts like this are a good way to find regional variants of fighting games or RPGs that might be out of print elsewhere.

The retailer is also discounting various Steam keys and digital codes. Steam keys remain a reliable way to grab region-specific digital releases without wrestling with foreign storefront accounts. They also eliminate the need to buy prepaid currency cards in other denominations just to purchase a single game.

The August 3 deadline

Alongside the discounts, Playasia is running a Lucky Draw promotion. Buyers get one raffle entry for every eligible sale item purchased. There is no cap on total entries.

The retailer is also pushing its Obake PAM Summer Series. Obake PAM is Playasia's mascot. The company has spun the character out into a seasonal merchandise collection. The lineup includes acrylic standees, apparel, and other collectibles aimed at frequent shoppers.

The sale runs for two weeks. Physical media is getting harder to find domestically. Import sales are a practical alternative for building a library.
