Phyla-Vell warps space and smashes bugs in new MARVEL Cosmic Invasion showcase

There comes a point in every Marvel game where the developers must look past Wolverine and ask themselves if the world is finally ready for the deep cuts.
As part of the promotional cycle for MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, Dotemu has spotlighted a new combat breakdown for Phyla-Vell. For those unfamiliar with the character, Phyla-Vell has held the mantle of Captain Marvel and Quasar in the comics, though she is perhaps best known for wielding a giant energy sword and having a complicated family tree.
Cosmic Crowd Control
Phyla-Vell's is warping the very fabric of space to manage the enemy swarm. In other words: crowd control. She'll be able to wall bash and juggle a lot of insectoid bugs. Her cosmic slash and a few other moves also give her great ranged attacks.
Given Dotemu's track record with Streets of Rage 4 and TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, a focus on distinct character mechanics is expected.
Expanding the Roster
Phyla-Vell indicates that MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is leaning heavily into the galactic side of the Marvel universe. While Spider-Man sells lunchboxes, the cosmic setting allows for larger enemy waves and more spectacular ability effects. It also gives the developers a chance to utilize characters that haven't been featured in every single video game released since 1995.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion was released on Dec 1st 2025 and is available on most platforms. Physical releases arrive in March.
