October 9th free games roundup
Nine free PC games you can claim and keep permanently this weekend, including Pony Island and TerraScape.
There are nine free PC games to claim today. Digital storefronts rotate their giveaways on Thursdays and Fridays, and this week brings a strong mix of psychological horror, cozy city builders, and retro strategy.
Steam's weekend drops
Pony Island is the standout here. Daniel Mullins released this metanarrative puzzle game back in 2016, and it quickly turns from a broken arcade cabinet into a hacking duel against Lucifer himself. You can claim it permanently until October 12 at 10:00 AM PT.
Fireside Feelings is a smaller, cozy visual novel that just dropped its price tag entirely. It is free to keep right now, though the developer hasn't listed a specific expiration date.
Rotwood: Drakin Armoury Pack is a DLC add-on for Klei Entertainment's early access brawler. If you own the base game, you can grab the new Greatsword weapon type and Drakin playable species for free until October 15.
The Epic Games Store rotation
TerraScape is a relaxing deck-building city builder that just hit its 1.0 release earlier this year. You place cards to build out procedural floating islands, and it is free to claim until October 15 at 15:00 UTC.
Out of Sight takes a completely different approach to perspective. It is an atmospheric horror adventure where you view the world through the eyes of a detached teddy bear, and it shares the same October 15 expiration date.
Prime Gaming's October lineup
Conarium is a Lovecraftian adventure game inspired by the novella At the Mountains of Madness. Prime members can claim a GOG copy of the game from now until November 11.
WarBreeds brings some late-90s real-time strategy to the catalog. Red Orb released it in 1998 with highly customizable alien factions, and you have until January 8 to add it to your library.
Free on itch.io
MEOWCHA is a browser-based puzzle platformer where you swap between a small cat and a large mech suit. It features nine levels and is completely free to play right now.
Quick Time: Dirt Oval Racing just pushed its 1.2 update live. It is a top-down arcade racer focused on sliding around dirt tracks, available as a free download.
Remember that these offers are time-limited. Grab the ones you want before the storefronts cycle them out next week.
