1. Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered

Developed by Bacon Bandit Games and published by Digerati, this 2015 remaster of the 2014 indie original pairs turn-based RPG combat with Scrabble-style anagram wordplay across 70 stages and an endless survival mode. You guide miniature grim reapers Grimm and Rose through hordes of monsters by spelling longer words on a letter grid to deal heavier damage, with that core loop holding up cleanly a decade later. Authorized retailer Fanatical is giving away 60,000 permanent Steam keys (normally $7.99, and redeeming one also grants the 2014 original) as part of its Birthday Bash event until November 6, 2026 at 23:59 UTC or until stock runs out, provided you link an active Steam account and opt into their email newsletter.

2. Bellus Party

Released into Early Access on October 30 by HĂ€ngagubbe Studio, this multiplayer party game pits players against each other as chaotic cartoon cats across a rotation of fast-paced competitive mini-games. It's free to claim and keep on Steam right now with no announced expiration date, though there's no telling whether the price tag will change once it leaves Early Access.

3. Operation: Final Toll

Instead of fighting off the undead, developer speaks-with-stone's tactical strategy game makes you the plague itself, infecting townspeople and ringing a bell to direct zombie hordes before police and mortar teams can evacuate the district. Between maps, you spend points at a research table to upgrade runners, brutes, and spitters, which flips the standard zombie defense formula on its head nicely. The game is permanently free to play directly in your browser on itch.io with no expiration date.

4. War for Taurus

Built by solo developer courtmanske, this tough pixel-art space roguelike sends your lone ship across five star systems toward the Eye of Taurus while drafting upgrade cards across nine categories like lasers, drones, and cyber-hacking. The catch is that the enemy Taurid fleet studies your loadout and fields specific counter-upgrades in every new sector, and I'm curious to see if an all-stealth build can actually survive that kind of reactive AI. It's free in the browser on itch.io right now with no end date attached.

5. My Little Zoo

Created by developer andre878 for his daughter, this kid-friendly exploration and park-building prototype lets you travel across six biomes (from coral reefs to bamboo forests) to observe weather patterns and catch animals for your custom enclosures. Tracking down rare variants like a white tiger or beating a gorilla in a drum duel gives it more mechanical meat than you'd expect from a family project. It runs free in your browser on itch.io with no ads, accounts, or expiration date.

Promotional key giveaways don't last forever, and Fanatical's 60,000-key pool for Letter Quest can dry up well before the November 6 deadline. Grab the Steam key while stock holds out.
