Nintendo is bringing Switch Sports Resort and Splatoon Raiders to Comic-Con
Nintendo's San Diego Comic-Con 2026 booth will feature the first US hands-on for Switch Sports Resort and a launch party for Splatoon Raiders.
Nintendo is bringing playable demos of Splatoon Raiders and Nintendo Switch Sports Resort to San Diego Comic-Con this month. According to the official announcement, attendees will get early access to both Nintendo Switch 2 titles through interactive booths and offsite events that run from July 23 to July 26.
These aren't brand new announcements. Nintendo originally revealed both games during last month's Direct presentation. The Comic-Con event serves as the first major public hands-on opportunity in the United States rather than a fresh reveal. Both titles are built for the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.
Four sports on Wuhu Island

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is the main attraction for early previews. The game launches on October 22 and acts as a direct sequel to the 2022 release of Nintendo Switch Sports. It also brings back the Wuhu Island setting originally popularized by Wii Sports Resort in 2009. The full game has 12 different activities. Returning favorites like bowling and golf sit alongside new additions like thumb wrestling and prop plane flying.
The Comic-Con demo will be located offsite at The Pointe inside the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. Attendees can try out four of the 12 sports. Nintendo is also hosting a promotional event on July 23 where randomly selected players can compete against social media personality Christian "The Rizzler" Joseph. The company noted that no prizes will be awarded for these matches.
The sports compilation relies heavily on the new Joy-Con 2 controllers. The updated hardware reportedly offers improved gyroscope accuracy over the original Switch controllers. This is a crucial upgrade for a game that demands precise motion tracking for activities like archery and table tennis.
Revisiting Wuhu Island is a smart nostalgic play. The original Wii Sports Resort sold over 33 million copies and cemented Wuhu Island as one of Nintendo's most recognizable digital locations. Bringing it back for the Switch 2 launch window gives early adopters a familiar environment to test out the new motion controls.
A launch party for Deep Cut

The Splatoon Raiders presence at Comic-Con is a bit different. The game actually releases on July 23. That is the exact same day the convention opens. The booth on the show floor functions more as a launch celebration than an early preview.
Splatoon Raiders is a major departure for the franchise. It is a single-player and cooperative roguelite spin-off developed by Nintendo EPD. Players take on the role of a mechanic stranded on the Spirhalite Islands alongside the Deep Cut trio of Shiver, Frye, and Big Man. The group previously hosted the news broadcasts in Splatoon 3.
Instead of the traditional four-on-four turf wars, players fight off waves of hostile Salmonids while hunting for treasure. The gameplay loop focuses on choosing different tank loadouts. The Power Tank offers brute force, the Speed Tank prioritizes mobility, and the Tactical Tank helps control the battlefield. The game also supports up to four players in local or online cooperative modes.
A dedicated single-player spin-off is something the Splatoon community has requested for years. The mainline games always included excellent solo campaigns, but they were ultimately training grounds for the competitive multiplayer modes. Splatoon Raiders finally gives the series' lore and platforming mechanics room to breathe on their own.
Both games are completely exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo has not announced plans to bring either title to the original Switch console.
