Nihon Falcom Releases 'Trails' Coffee Blends to Fuel Your 500-Hour Playthroughs
OK COFFEE and Nihon Falcom collaborate on four regional blends representing the nations of the Kiseki series, launching December 27.
There are JRPGs you finish in a weekend, and then there is The Legend of Heroes: Trails series, a franchise that demands a level of commitment usually reserved for raising a child or paying off a mortgage. If you plan to navigate the complex political intrigue of the Zemurian continent, you are going to need caffeine.
As announced by Nihon Falcom, the developer has partnered with OK COFFEE (Tsutsui Shoten) to release a line of original coffee blends and merchandise based on the long-running series. The collection focuses on the four primary nations that serve as the setting for the games: the Liberl Kingdom, Crossbell State, Erebonian Empire, and Calvard Republic.
A Blend for Every Geopolitical Conflict
The collaboration includes four distinct blend coffees, each designed to evoke the atmosphere of its respective region. According to the announcement, the goal is to provide a flavor profile "reminiscent of the story and characters representing each country."

For those familiar with the games, this offers some interesting tasting possibilities. One might expect the Liberl blend to be light and optimistic, while the Erebonian blend probably tastes like military industrialization and steel. The Calvard blend presumably carries notes of economic expansion and immigration reform.

Merchandising the Grind
Alongside the beans, Falcom is releasing the usual array of character goods. The lineup includes drip packs featuring specific character illustrations, acrylic stands, keyholders, and mugs. The merchandise draws from specific factions within the lore, including the Special Support Section and Thors Military Academy.

This collaboration highlights a growing trend where developers of massive, lifestyle-consuming games provide the literal fuel required to play them. The Trails series began in 2004 and now spans over a dozen interconnected titles. For the preservationist or collector, these consumable tie-ins are a nightmare to archive, but for the active player, they are a practical accessory for late-night grinding sessions.
