Nihon Falcom Cuts Prices on Switch Trails Titles by 60% in New Holiday Sale
Nihon Falcom and Clouded Leopard Entertainment have launched a second holiday sale on the eShop, offering 60% off three major Trails titles until January 21.
Nihon Falcom has announced the second wave of its sale on the Nintendo eShop, discounting three major Legend of Heroes titles by 60 percent. The promotion runs from January 5 to January 21, 2026, and specifically targets the Nintendo Switch ports published by Clouded Leopard Entertainment.
According to the official announcement, this discount applies to the digital versions of the "Kai" remasters for the first two Cold Steel games, as well as the crossover title Trails into Reverie. While Falcom develops these titles, the Switch versions in this specific sale are distributed by Clouded Leopard Entertainment, a publisher known for handling Falcom's ports in Asian markets.
The Discounted Lineup
The sale focuses on the Erebonia arc of the long-running series. The specific titles listed at 60 percent off are:
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie (Hajimari no Kiseki)
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel I: Kai -Thors Military Academy 1204-
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II: Kai -The Erebonian Civil War-
For the uninitiated, the "Kai" suffix denotes the remastered versions of these titles. Cold Steel I and II originally launched on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2014 and 2015 respectively. These updated versions include performance improvements and previously released DLC content, bringing them in line with the PlayStation 4 re-releases.
A Massive Time Sink
Getting into the Trails series is often compared to starting a television show that has been running since 2004 and refuses to reboot its continuity. Trails of Cold Steel I serves as a reasonable entry point for newcomers, though it eventually ties into the broader political narrative of the Zemurian continent. Trails into Reverie, conversely, acts as an epilogue to both the Cold Steel and Crossbell arcs, making it a confusing place to start for anyone who hasn't already invested several hundred hours into the franchise.
This sale follows an earlier promotion and offers a significant price drop for digital collectors. With the Nintendo Switch successor likely on the horizon for 2026, filling out a digital library of 100-hour JRPGs remains a popular way to ignore the passage of time.
