Nihon Falcom has announced that its upcoming Falcom jdk BAND LIVE 2026 concert will feature a world premiere performance of the Trails in the Sky the 1st theme song, "Hoshi no Arika" (Whereabouts of the Stars), played by the same musicians who recorded the in-game version. According to a New Year's update from the developer, the concert is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Akabane, Tokyo.

The announcement comes as the studio prepares to celebrate its 45th anniversary this March. While the company is known for its prolific output of RPGs, its internal music team and the jdk Band have cultivated a following that rivals the games themselves. It is rare to see the specific original recording members reunite for a live performance of a track this old, especially one as iconic to the franchise as "Hoshi no Arika."

The 45th Anniversary Roadmap

In the same update, Falcom confirmed that development is underway on Sora no Kiseki the 2nd (Trails in the Sky the 2nd), alongside other games, music, and merchandise. This follows the company's recent pattern of revisiting the Liberl arc, ensuring that the origins of the massive Trails series remain accessible on modern hardware.

"We will do our best as a staff to carefully deliver various content such as 'Sora no Kiseki the 2nd', games, music, goods, and events to everyone," the company stated in its announcement.

For those attending the Tokyo event, Falcom noted that pre-show merchandise sales will be available from 14:00 to 15:30. These sales are open to the general public, even those without concert tickets. It is a convenient way to grab a limited-edition t-shirt without having to endure the emotional devastation of listening to the Trails in the Sky ending theme live.

Why This Matters

Music has always been the backbone of Falcom's identity. Since the 1980s, they have been one of the few developers to maintain a distinct, in-house sound that bridges their various franchises. The Trails series in particular relies heavily on leitmotifs that span dozens of games.

Seeing the company prioritize a live performance with original members for a 20-year-old song highlights how much they value that legacy. It is a nod to the fans who have stuck around since the PC days, long before the series became the massive interconnected web of politics and anime tropes it is today.
