Namco's 1995 arcade racer Cyber Cycles is coming to Arcade Archives tomorrow

HAMSTER Corporation has released the official launch trailer and set an August 20 release date for the Arcade Archives port of Namco's 1995 racer Cyber Cycles. The game is launching across two tiers: the standard Arcade Archives release for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, and an Arcade Archives 2 version for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the Switch 2.

The title leaked via achievement databases earlier this month. The official release confirms modern additions like Time Attack Mode and VRR support.

Neon streets and ocean roads

Cyber Cycles originally ran on Namco's Super System 22 hardware. It was known for its massive physical arcade cabinet and distinct track aesthetics. Players race across sunny coastal highways and cyberpunk-style night tracks.

The port retains the 3D graphics of the 1995 original. It includes the standard Arcade Archives features like difficulty adjustments and online leaderboards. HAMSTER has been steadily expanding its dual-tier releases, as previously reported with Moon Shuttle.

Modern hardware perks

The Arcade Archives 2 version takes advantage of newer console hardware by adding VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) support. This helps smooth out the frame pacing on a game that originally pushed mid-90s arcade boards to their limits. I am curious to see how the steering translates to modern analog sticks, given the original used a full physical bike chassis.

The game costs $7.99 on all storefronts. It drops tomorrow, August 20.
