Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 get a Switch physical Double Pack
Limited Run Games is putting both Mega Man X Legacy Collections onto separate Nintendo Switch cartridges in an $80 Double Pack.
Limited Run Games is releasing a physical Double Pack Edition of Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2 for the Nintendo Switch, alongside a standalone cartridge for the second volume and a collector's bundle. As previously reported when the publisher shared the news on November 3, open pre-orders begin on November 12, 2026, at 12:00 PM EST and run until January 3, 2027, at 11:59 PM EST.
When Capcom originally launched the two compilations across PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch on July 24, 2018, the Western retail Switch version cheaped out on flash memory. Buying the box at a North American store got you a physical Game Card for the first collection and a one-time eShop download voucher for the second. Unless you imported the standalone Japanese cartridge of Rockman X Anniversary Collection 2, half of your physical purchase was just a piece of paper with a code on it.

Two cartridges, zero download codes

This new release fixes that eight-year-old annoyance. For $39.99, the Standard Edition puts Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 onto its own region-free Switch cartridge. If you want the entire eight-game run together, the $79.99 Double Pack includes separate cartridges for both Collection 1 and Collection 2 housed inside a single slipcase. There's no purchase limit during the open pre-order window.
There is also a $139.99 Maverick Hunter Edition for people with spare shelf space. That tier bundles the physical software with a Metool keychain plush, cloth patches, and a replica Dr. Light hologram capsule light. I'm not sure anyone needs a $140 plastic capsule on their desk, though getting all eight games on actual carts without importing from Japan is long overdue.
From 16-bit peaks toMega Man X7

Capcom first kicked off the series on the Super Nintendo in 1993 as a faster, harder-edged spin-off to the 1987 original. Created by Keiji Inafune and Capcom's internal design team, it traded the blue bomber's slower platforming for wall-jumps, dash maneuvers, and hidden armor upgrade capsules.
The first cartridge covers the franchise's prime: Mega Man X (1993), X2 (1994), and X3 (1995) from the 16-bit SNES era, plus the 32-bit PlayStation jump with Mega Man X4 (1997). That fourth entry is where Zero became a fully playable protagonist with his own campaign and energy saber techniques.
Collection 2 handles the much weirdest back half of the timeline. It starts with the late PlayStation entries Mega Man X5 (2000) and X6 (2001), then moves to the PlayStation 2 era with Mega Man X7 (2003) and X8 (2004). Having X7 preserved on a physical Switch cartridge is great for completeness, even if playing through its clunky 3D camera angles remains a unique form of voluntary punishment.
As shown in the original Nintendo Switch announcement trailer from 2018, both volumes retain all of Capcom's bonus features. You get optional high-resolution smoothing filters, a music player, a 25-year merchandise catalog, production art galleries, and the 2005 animated prequel film The Day of Σ (originally included with the PSP remake Mega Man Maverick Hunter X). Both carts also include the X Challenge mode, which pits you against two Maverick bosses at once, like Chill Penguin and Frost Walrus.
