Lovecraftian horror game Necrophosis is coming to PS5 and Xbox
Dragonis Games and PQube are bringing the 2025 PC horror title to consoles in a complete edition featuring the new Subconsciousness expansion.
Romanian indie studio Dragonis Games and UK publisher PQube have announced Necrophosis: Full Consciousness for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, and PC. The upcoming release bundles the original 2025 PC horror game with a brand-new expansion called Subconsciousness.
The original Necrophosis launched on Steam in April 2025 to a "Very Positive" user reception. It operates as a first-person psychological horror adventure heavily inspired by the decaying, flesh-like architecture of Zdzisław Beksiński and H.R. Giger. Players control an entity called "Consciousness" trapped in a deteriorating vessel. You explore grotesque environments, solve puzzles through brain detachment mechanics, and avoid eldritch entities.

The art direction leans heavily into dystopian, nightmarish imagery. Every surface looks like calcified bone, rotting meat, or rusted metal. The audio design matches this minimalist approach. Players navigate the world accompanied mostly by droning ambient noise, distant groans, and whispers.
The new Subconsciousness expansion adds more flesh
The Subconsciousness expansion adds new environments, deeper story content, and more Lovecraftian horrors to the base game. The original release took about two to three hours to complete. This new content aims to extend that descent into the game's surreal world. The narrative unfolds through environmental storytelling and evocative narrative poems rather than traditional dialogue trees or cutscenes.
A detailed trailer specifically focusing on the DLC content went live on the Dragonis Games YouTube channel on March 2.
Two games on one PS5 disc
While Xbox Series players will only have digital access, PlayStation 5 owners get a physical option. Publisher PQube is handling a physical PS5 edition that actually bundles two games together. Alongside Full Consciousness, the disc includes The Shore.

The Shore was Dragonis Games' debut title from 2021. It earned an Epic Games MegaGrant based purely on its demo. The game shares the same cosmic horror DNA as Necrophosis but trades the fleshy hellscapes for a more traditional Lovecraftian coastal setting. Ares Dragonis essentially operates as a solo powerhouse for these projects. He directs, produces, and creates the 3D monster designs himself, with key development support from Adonis Brosteanu.
Dragonis Games has steadily built a reputation in this specific subgenre over the last few years. Following The Shore, the studio released a VR version of the game in 2022 and followed it up with the co-op horror game Eresys in 2023. Necrophosis remains their most visually ambitious project to date.
No exact date in 2026 yet
Neither Dragonis Games nor PQube have provided an exact release date beyond a general 2026 window.
I appreciate seeing small, highly specific aesthetic projects like this make the jump to consoles. The market has plenty of horror games relying on jump scares and combat. A short walking simulator focused entirely on oppressive, decaying surrealism fills a very specific niche.
