Kotobukiya is releasing a 1/8 scale Rixia Mao figure in June

Nihon Falcom recently shared news about upcoming figures for the Trails series, but the details require some clarification. Kotobukiya is producing a new 1/8 scale figure of Rixia Mao with a release date set for June 2026. Pre-orders for the figure open on April 23.

The Trails series has a massive cast of characters across two decades of games. Keeping track of manufacturer announcements can get confusing. The franchise started on Windows PCs before finding a massive audience on PlayStation consoles. Nihon Falcom recently attributed the new Rixia Mao scale figure to Good Smile Company on their official website. That is incorrect. The 1/8 scale Rixia Mao is entirely a Kotobukiya product. Or so that's what Google says. As you know, the Internet is never wrong.

The Good Smile confusion

Nihon Falcom also listed "L size" Pop Up Parade figures for Estelle Bright and Ren in their recent update. Despite this claim, there is no readily available information confirming that Good Smile is actually releasing Pop Up Parades for the Trails series.

Good Smile does produce figures for the franchise. Estelle Bright already has a Nendoroid, but that is an existing product rather than a new announcement. The Estelle Nendoroid captures her classic appearance from Trails in the Sky. It includes her signature bo staff and a few interchangeable face plates. It is a great piece for a desk display, but it is absolutely not a new reveal.

Rixia's latest design

The actual new release here is Rixia. She first appeared in Trails to Azure on the PlayStation Portable back in 2011. She operates as a stage performer in the city of Crossbell. She also secretly works as the feared assassin Yin. Her dual identity is a major plot point in the Crossbell arc. She has shown up in several games since that initial PSP release. Over time, she shifted from an antagonist to a reliable ally.

This specific 1/8 scale figure uses her character design from Kai no Kiseki. That game is the latest entry in the long-running RPG franchise. Kotobukiya has a solid track record with Falcom characters. They previously released high-quality figures for Rean Schwarzer, Altina Orion, and Rennie. A 1/8 scale figure usually stands around eight to nine inches tall. The exact height depends on the pose. Rixia carries a massive Buster Sword-style weapon. That usually means the figure will need a wide base for stability on a shelf.

Pre-orders open on April 23

You can secure the Rixia Mao figure starting April 23. The retail price has not been finalized yet. Kotobukiya's 1/8 scale figures usually cost between $120 to $180. The final price depends on the complexity of the sculpt.

I am still holding out hope that we eventually get a proper line of budget-friendly Pop Up Parades for the older Trails in the Sky cast. Nihon Falcom certainly sparked some hope for that line with their recent update. Until we get actual confirmation from Good Smile, the Kotobukiya scale figures are the most consistent way to get high-quality representations of these characters.
