Konami's free eBaseball PRO SPIRIT just got a new launch trailer

Konami has published a fresh trailer for eBaseball: PRO SPIRIT to highlight the game's recent global launch on PlayStation 5 and Steam. The free-to-play baseball game actually released worldwide last week on July 16.

The new promotional push leans heavily into the international esports angle. Konami built the game using Unreal Engine alongside its own proprietary eBASEBALL Engine. The company claims this custom engine handles the specific physics of the sport. It calculates ball velocity, launch angles, and drag effects in real time during play.

Building a roster

If you are looking for an MLB or NPB simulator, this is not it. The game's official website explicitly notes that real players and teams are absent. Instead, players build custom rosters from a pool of 120 fictional athletes. Teams are constructed using a cost cap system designed to fit specific tournament rules.

The audio presentation takes a simulation-first approach. Konami used impulse response measurements to recreate actual stadium acoustics. For the English release, play-by-play comes from veteran broadcaster Josh Lewin. He handles the booth solo without a color commentator.

Two decades of history

The underlying franchise actually goes back quite a bit. The series traces its roots to Professional Baseball Spirits 2004 on the PlayStation 2. This latest iteration is the platform for the WBSC eBaseball Series 2026 World Championship, which is currently underway.

The game is a digital-only release and requires an active internet connection for its core multiplayer modes.
