Jay and Silent Bob's beat 'em up is finally launching on 4/20

Interabang Entertainment's long-in-development beat 'em up Jay and Silent Bob: Chronic Blunt Punch is officially launching on April 20, 2026. Because...of course it is... The news comes via a new release date trailer that highlights the game's hand-drawn art style and deeply crude humor.

Yes, they picked 4/20 for the release date. We would expect nothing less from the View Askewniverse.

Ten years in the making

This project has been cooking for a very long time. Interabang Entertainment originally crowdfunded the game on the investment platform Fig back in March 2016. The campaign raised over $400,000 to get the concept off the ground. It was one of the earlier successes on that specific platform. A decade later, the finished product is finally being published by a coalition that includes Atari, The MIX Games, and Digital Eclipse.

I will openly admit to being a massive Digital Eclipse fan. I will try absolutely anything they put their name on, even if it involves fighting a giant poop monster. We will get to the poop monster in a minute.

The game is a 2D side-scrolling brawler heavily inspired by arcade classics. You play as the titular slacker duo as they fight their way through an Orwellian mega-mall to find their missing customers. The art is entirely hand-drawn. This gives the game a vibrant cartoon look that masks its M-rating. Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith return to voice their respective characters. They bring the exact brand of dialogue you remember from the films.

Tag-team mall brawling

The combat relies on a tag-team system. You can play solo and swap between Jay and Bob on the fly, or you can play local couch co-op with a friend. The combo system lets you link physical attacks and build up a meter to summon assist characters from the movie franchise.

The developers have also included a mechanic where players hurl insults to destroy their enemies' self-esteem. It is a strange addition to a brawler. It fits perfectly into a universe built around two guys leaning against a wall and making fun of people.

The enemies are exactly what you would expect from a Kevin Smith property. You fight hockey-stick-wielding teenagers, aggressive hipsters, and massive bosses. Boss encounters include a hulking brute named Goalie Zamboni and Golgoth Ramsay. Golgoth is literally a giant monster made of feces wearing a chef's hat. The M-rating for drug references and strong language is well earned.

Platform details

The new trailer debuted on the official Xbox YouTube channel and specifically highlights the Xbox Series X/S release. Do not let that trick you into thinking it is an exclusive. The game is also coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can wishlist it on Steam right now.

Crowdfunded games from the 2010s have a nasty habit of quietly disappearing into the ether. Seeing one actually cross the finish line ten years later is a rare treat. It is especially fun to see a project that commits this hard to its incredibly specific brand of mall-rat nonsense.
