Ingrid is coming to Street Fighter 6 this spring

Capcom has announced that Ingrid is joining the Street Fighter 6 roster in late spring 2026. She is the fourth and final character of the game's Year 3 content pass. Her arrival brings a magical aesthetic to the game, complete with reality-bending powers and a heavy dose of cosmic weirdness.

Ingrid is a deep cut for the franchise. She originally debuted in the 2004 crossover title Capcom Fighting Evolution. She later appeared in the 2006 PlayStation Portable port Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX. Capcom recently brought her back into the public eye via the Capcom Fighting Collection 2. She has never been part of a mainline numbered Street Fighter game until now.

She uses a fighting style based on magical energy and quick aerial movements. Her World Tour mode implementation leans heavily into her lore as an interdimensional traveler. Players will encounter her in a seemingly uninhabited world. She interacts with player avatars by creating cosmic portal doors and shattering the fabric of reality with a snap of her fingers. She also introduces strange doll-like creatures called Monoids to the game's universe. The developer leans into her mysterious origins through dialogue about her ability to consign entire worlds to oblivion.

A weird history

She was originally designed by artist Kita Senri. Her visual design minimizes exposed skin to suggest maturity while incorporating tights, gloves, and white hair to contrast with her youthful face. Capcom initially created her for a 2003 3D fighting game called Capcom Fighting All-Stars. The developer canceled that project before it hit arcades. They salvaged her character model and repurposed her for Capcom Fighting Evolution.

Her actual place in the Street Fighter canon was murky for decades. Her powers rival M. Bison's Psycho Power, but she rarely interacted with the main cast outside of portable ports and recent crossover collections. In Street Fighter Alpha 3 MAX, she was established as a time-traveler trying to reclaim power that M. Bison stole from her. She even possessed the ability to break Ryu out of the Satsui no Hado's influence. Her inclusion in Street Fighter 6 makes her a mainline series regular for the first time. It gives Capcom a chance to finally explain how she fits into the modern storyline.

The Year 3 wrap-up

The Year 3 Character and Ultimate Passes are available to purchase now. The pass includes Sagat, C. Viper, Alex, and Ingrid. Sagat kicked off the season in the summer of 2025. C. Viper followed in the autumn. Alex is scheduled for early spring 2026. Ingrid closes out the season shortly after. Players who purchase the Ultimate Pass will also receive additional outfit colors and a new stage.

Street Fighter 6 is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The original announcement trailer aired on PlayStation's channel, but the character will be available across all supported platforms. Capcom also released a new Years 1-2 Fighter's Edition bundle for PlayStation consoles that includes the base game and the first two DLC seasons.

Fighting games usually stick to martial arts tropes or military stereotypes. Throwing a reality-warping magical entity into the mix forces the development team to get creative with hitboxes and visual effects. Her magical flips and reality-breaking animations look entirely different from the grounded martial arts of characters like Ryu or Luke. It is a strange choice for a roster spot, but Street Fighter has always been at its best when it embraces the weird.
