Graceful Decay and Annapurna announce puzzle-adventure Uncanyon

Graceful Decay, the studio behind the 2021 recursive puzzle game Maquette, has announced a new puzzle-adventure title called Uncanyon. Publisher Annapurna Interactive revealed the game during Sony's September 2026 State of Play presentation, confirming a 2027 release window.

The game is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, and the Nintendo Switch 2.

Uncanyon takes place in a forgotten world located in a seam between "unparallel realities." The goal is to explore ruins and solve environmental puzzles. You have to stop the world from unraveling entirely.

Building bridges and breaking wood

The initial video focuses heavily on environmental interaction. The protagonist creates paths through the world, including a sequence where a wooden bridge forms over a body of water to allow passage. The game uses vibrant colors and stylized environments, with ancient architecture blending directly into the natural terrain.

It is not strictly a passive puzzle game. Another segment shows the player attacking and dismantling a glowing wooden construct. When the protagonist strikes it, the structure shatters into individual planks and magical energy. It is unclear if these constructs act as enemies guarding areas or if breaking them is simply another method of clearing paths and gathering materials.

The world is also populated. The protagonist speaks to an owl-like NPC named Thelonius through a dialogue interface. The interaction takes place across a wooden counter, with the owl wearing a small hat and spectacles. A shop implies an economy. Exploration will likely involve collecting currency to trade for upgrades or puzzle-solving tools.

Moving past Maquette

Graceful Decay debuted with Maquette. It was a strict, focused puzzle game. Players manipulated a miniature model of a city to change the full-sized world around them. Uncanyon appears to lean much harder into the adventure side of the puzzle-adventure genre. Adding NPCs, an economy, and physical interactions with glowing constructs points to a broader scope than a contained puzzle box.

Annapurna Interactive is publishing the title, continuing a relationship that started with Graceful Decay's first release. The 2027 release window puts the game relatively far out, but the explicit confirmation of a Nintendo Switch 2 version alongside current-generation consoles provides a clear picture of its technical targets. As the industry transitions toward Nintendo's next hardware, third-party developers are beginning to openly list it alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles for titles scheduled a year or more out.

The initial trailer establishes the art direction and the basic premise. We will likely see more about how those unparallel realities actually affect the puzzle mechanics as 2027 approaches.
