Duskfade pre-orders are now open on PS5

Pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 version of Duskfade are now open ahead of the game's August 13 release date. Developer Weird Beluga Studio and publisher Fireshine Games originally announced the title back in February 2024. Now the final push to launch has begun with a fresh gameplay trailer.

The new footage focuses heavily on high-speed traversal and combat. The protagonist grinds along glowing rails through a shattered golden landscape. The art style leans hard into vibrant neon colors set against darker backgrounds. It gives the environments a distinct visual identity that stands out from typical grimdark fantasy settings.

Combat looks fast and relies on dual-wielding mechanics. One sequence shows the main character executing a spinning purple area-of-effect attack to clear out a group of shadow enemies. The animation work appears very fluid here. The character chains together ground combos before launching enemies into the air for follow-up attacks.

Giant purple clouds

The trailer also highlights the scale of the boss encounters. At one point, a giant purple cloud monster rises from the ground holding a massive weapon. I am not entirely sure how a cloud manages to grip a physical sword, but the animation sells it well enough.

Weird Beluga seems to be aiming for a specific rhythm with these boss fights. The player character dodges massive sweeping attacks before closing the distance to land a few quick hits. It looks like a standard action-adventure loop, but the gravity-defying movement options could add some welcome variety to the formula.

Platforms and pricing

While this specific trailer comes from the PlayStation channel, the game is not a PS5 exclusive. It will also launch on PC and other consoles as previously reported. Multiplatform releases often get fragmented marketing campaigns like this. It is always good to double-check before assuming a game is locked to one piece of hardware.

The PlayStation Store listing shows a base price of $29.99. PlayStation Plus subscribers get a 20 percent discount that drops the price to $23.99. The pre-order discount offer ends on August 13 at 1:00 PM UTC when the game officially unlocks.

The 3D action platformer genre has seen a steady stream of releases lately. Games in this space live or die by their control responsiveness. If the rail-grinding and aerial combat in Duskfade feel clunky, the flashy visuals will not save it. The developers have promised tight controls, but that is a claim every studio makes before launch. We will see if the final product feels as good as it looks when the game drops next month.
