Dungeon Antiqua 2 hits consoles this August
The 16-bit dungeon crawler arrives on Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S after its PC debut earlier this year.
Publisher AMATA Games is releasing the console version of Dungeon Antiqua 2 on August 20. The 16-bit style dungeon crawler will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It originally arrived on PC via Steam back in January, and this new release finally opens the game up to a much wider audience of console players.
The game is a direct sequel to the original Dungeon Antiqua. It is set hundreds of years later. The developers deliberately stripped away lengthy story cutscenes to focus on simple text and immediate gameplay.

Flexible job systems
Players build a party using a pool of ten different character classes. Five are available at the start, and five more unlock as the game progresses. The sequel adds the Monk and Archer to the returning roster of jobs like Fighter, Mage, and Paladin.

Changing your character's class doesn't reset their level. I appreciate any RPG that lets me experiment with party composition without forcing me to grind rats in a basement for three hours just to catch up. You'll earn skill points from battles to unlock specific abilities for each job.
Sight and symbols
Exploration spans six different dungeons. Movement relies on a vision system where the visibility of corridors and enemies depends on your party's stats. Combat uses symbol encounters on the map.

You can dodge enemies entirely or strike them first to gain an advantage in the turn-based battles. A first playthrough takes roughly 10 to 12 hours. It's a highly digestible runtime for anyone suffering from modern RPG fatigue. You can grab it digitally on the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, or Microsoft Store when it launches next month.
