Capcom announced Resident Evil 9: Requiem, a remake of Dino Crisis, and a massive Monster Hunter Wilds expansion during its June 2026 Spotlight event. The publisher also finally locked in an October release date for the long-delayed Pragmata. The presentation was a dense thirty minutes of gameplay reveals and release windows, confirming the company's roadmap well into 2027.

Resident Evil goes open-zone

Resident Evil 9: Requiem is the next mainline entry in the survival horror series. It launches in Fall 2027. The game abandons the tight, linear corridors of previous entries for an open-zone map set in a desolate European coastal town. Moving to an open-zone format is a massive shift for a franchise built on carefully curated jump scares and narrow hallways. The coastal town setting looks incredibly bleak. It is drenched in fog and surrounded by decaying structures.

Producer Tsuyoshi Kanda explained that a new iteration of the RE Engine allows for these large-scale environments without loading screens. This setup lets enemies stalk the player over much larger distances than they did in Resident Evil Village. You can no longer just run through a door to escape a threat. Kanda noted the change in design philosophy directly. "The horror now comes from the lack of safe zones," he said. "If you can see a building on the horizon, you can go there, but so can the things hunting you."

Pragmata has an actual release date

After years of silence and multiple delays, Pragmata finally has a firm launch date. The sci-fi action game arrives on October 14, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom paired the date with a look at actual gameplay mechanics. The protagonist uses a gravity-defying gadget to navigate a crumbling lunar base and toss enemies into orbit. It is a relief to see the game in motion after so many years of vague cinematic trailers.

Pragmata was originally announced way back in 2020 before suffering a string of indefinite delays. The developers acknowledged the rocky development cycle in their presentation. "We thank our fans for their immense patience," the team stated. "Pragmata is finally ready to take you to the moon."

Freezing over Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds is getting a Master Rank expansion called Frozen Horizon in February 2027. The update adds a massive new arctic biome, three flagship monsters, and a refined version of the Clutch Claw. The original Clutch Claw was highly controversial in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne because it forced players into a repetitive grappling loop. Hopefully, this new iteration feels more organic.

Series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto broke down a new dynamic weather system centered around a blizzard mechanic. The heavy snow alters monster behavior and limits visibility. Players have to rely on thermal equipment and environmental traps to survive the cold. It sounds like a miserable place to hunt, which is exactly the point. "We wanted the environment to feel as dangerous as the monsters themselves," Tsujimoto said. "The blizzard is a living entity in this expansion."

Regina returns in RE Engine 5

Capcom ended the broadcast with a 30-second cinematic teaser for a Dino Crisis remake. A high-definition Regina explores a dark jungle facility before a blood-stained emergency light bathes the screen in red. The original Dino Crisis was directed by Shinji Mikami and essentially swapped zombies for velociraptors. It has been dormant since the poorly received Dino Crisis 3 in 2003. There is no release window yet, but the remake is in active development using RE Engine 5.

Fans have been begging for a modern take on the 1999 survival horror game ever since the Resident Evil 2 remake proved the formula could work. The publisher acknowledged the long wait with a brief message: "The fans have been vocal for over two decades. We heard you."

Capcom ran a 40th-anniversary logo throughout the Spotlight presentation. Between the complete overhaul of Resident Evil's level design and the revival of a PlayStation classic, the publisher is leaning heavily on both its past and its engine technology to carry it through the rest of the console generation.
