Demon Slayer's Hinokami Chronicles 2 just got a new Shinobu DLC

SEGA has released Shinobu Kocho as the latest DLC fighter for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2. The character arrives alongside an Anime Songs & BGM Pack that replaces the game's default battle music with tracks from the television series.

The new version of Shinobu is specifically based on her fight against Doma in the Infinity Castle arc. Her moveset relies heavily on high-speed strikes and poison-based attacks. Her ultimate technique is the Insect Breathing, Dance of the Centipede: 100 Legs Attack. Developer CyberConnect2 built her playstyle around rapid movement and relentless pressure to match her appearance in the manga's final chapters. The cel-shaded animation matches the high-quality visual style of the base game.

Six new fighters

Shinobu is part of the Infinity Castle Character Pass. Players can buy her individually or purchase the full pass to get all six characters. The bundle includes Kaigaku, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Akaza, Tanjiro Kamado, Giyu Tomioka, and Shinobu. All of these fighters are specific Infinity Castle variants with updated movesets rather than completely new cast members, aside from Kaigaku.

The base game launched in August 2025 and covered the Entertainment District, Swordsmith Village, and Hashira Training arcs. The story mode consists of free-roaming exploration segments broken up by arena battles and cinematic quick-time events. Adding the Infinity Castle characters through DLC pushes the roster into the final chapters of the story. CyberConnect2 has been rolling these fighters out steadily since late 2025. Zenitsu dropped in November, and Akaza followed in December.

CyberConnect2 has a long history of developing 3D arena fighters based on anime properties, most notably the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series. The Hinokami Chronicles 2 uses a very similar mechanical framework. Players pick two characters and can swap between them or call them in for assist attacks. The combat system is simple to pick up but has enough depth to keep matches interesting. You can cancel normal attacks into special moves, and managing your assist meter is the key to extending combos. Adding Shinobu's high-speed variant gives players another agile option for their team compositions. Her poison attacks can slowly drain the opponent's health, forcing them to play aggressively to close the gap.

Anime soundtracks

The Anime Songs & BGM Pack is a separate purchase. It includes music by LiSA, such as "Gurenge," "Homura," and "Akeboshi." The pack also has "Zankyosanka" by Aimer and background tracks composed by Go Shiina and Yuki Kajiura.

Fighting games often use generic rock tracks for their default background music to avoid licensing fees. This pack lets players swap those out for the actual television soundtracks during matches. The option to use the real opening themes adds a lot to the presentation, even if making it a separate paid DLC is annoying. The music pack is available now on all digital storefronts.

Platform availability

PlayStation posted the trailer on its YouTube channel. However, The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is multiplatform. The game and its new DLC are available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. You can find more details on the official SEGA website.

New players will need the base game to use any of this content. The standard edition includes over 40 characters right out of the box. The roster covers the main cast and the nine Hashira. The DLC passes just round out the roster for the final story arc. The steady drip of new characters keeps the online player base active, but I always recommend waiting for a sale if you just want to play the story mode.
